Sergeant Malchos of the Iron Knights Chapter turned his power armoured bulk around so he was sitting with his back to the huge granite boulder that shielded his squad from the firing lines of the Iron Warrior Bastion.
“Tech Brother Goulmani has arrived Brother Sergeant” said Rougma the youngest member of the squad indicating the Techmarine who made his way hunched down to along the marines defensive line.
“I have brought it” said Goulmani with no preamble or greeting. He revealed a long tube of metal rather like a sceptre with technical runes and engraving etched along its surface. “It is accurate to fifty meters. If you are able to breach the Iron Warrior perimeter, which is impossible. The loss to the Chapter of such an endeavour would be too much to bare.”
Malchos nodded. The half dozen marines that lay dead or dying just beyond the relative safety of the rocky crag the Iron Knights sheltered behind gave truth to the Techmarines words. Still the mission had to be achieved he had sworn an oath to his captain that the traitor position would be taken by nightfall and dusk was fast approaching.
He had a dozen marines under his command and faced at least twice that in enemies. And they were in a secure defensive location. An impossible task indeed.
Malchos considered his options. After a moment deliberating he touched the locking mechanism on his right arm and removed his steel gauntlet. Then he unfastened his helmet, disconnecting the cooling and power valves with a hiss of vapour.
He took the sceptre from Goulmani and turned to the rest of the squad. “I have served the Emperor for nearly two centuries. Another man might think such a task would become tiresome“. The squad were silent, their expressions at Malchos seemingly blasphemous comment hidden behind their helmets. Malchos regarded each in turn “Brothers. Remember me”.
With that the Iron Knights sergeant leapt up and sprinted down the ridge towards the Iron Warriors position. Immediately explosive shots tore up the ground around his feet while heavy bolter rounds whipped past his head. Malchos dived to one side past a jagged spike of rock, his heart racing as the top of it was obliterated by a plasma shot. He jinked left and suddenly side stepped right avoiding a lascannon blast. The pistons of the power armour groaned and whined as he pushed it’s flexibility. The Iron Warriors position was only fifteen meters away from him. A simple yet robust rampart surrounded by thick rolls of barbed wire. Along the top of the walls a line of Iron Warriors blasted away at the Iron Knight Sergeant.
Malchos knew his luck couldn’t hold. Even as the errant thought sprang into his mind a bolt shot slammed into his chest. It didn’t penetrate his armour but it slowed him enough for a Chaos Space Marine Havoc to draw a bead on him with a krak missile. The blast struck his abdomen and Malchos was thrown across the rocky ground. His vision turned dark but didn’t quite fade. He was winded and his side was burning. Malchos cursed and gave a thought to his Primarch the great Dorn.
He rose to his feet. A bolter round grazed the side of his head and exploded taking a chunk of his ear with it. Malchos ran forward and leapt across the line of barbed wire. One hand clutching the sceptre the other clawing at the rough stone ramparts he pulled himself up.
The Iron Warrior above him leaned over the rampart to draw a line on him. Malchos dug his heavy boots unto a slight groove in the rock face while his one free hand unholstered his pistol and blasted the Chaos Space Marine. The point blank shot sending the traitor reeling. Malchos clambered over the wall exhausted. He stood up and immediately felt the wind rushing out him in an eruption of agony. Malchos looked down at his stomach. His armour was cracked and broken and his intestines came boiling out in great bloody loops as the Iron Warrior Terminator removed the chain axe. Malchos fingers seemed to go numb and his bolt pistol fell to the ground. The Iron Warriors clustered around him. The Terminator leaned forward and with a great bare like gauntlet lifted Malchos up by his neck slowly putting pressure on the Iron Knight’s windpipe.
“Loyalist fool” said the Termiantor his voice a metallic buzz. “Do you not know this world is ours? That the future is ours?”
Malchos grinned through blood flecked lips. “You bastards don’t have a future.” he spat. He flicked open the top of the sceptre and pressed down on the transponder’s priming button.
On board the Iron Knight’s Battle Barge ‘Imperial Judgement’ a signal was received and confirmed, and an order given.
When the mind shattering roar had finally died down and the shaking stopped Rougma stood up ready to lead the charge against the traitor position. All that could be left of it was a smouldering crater and the odd piece of twisted power armour.
Rougma took up Malchos helmet and gauntlet and set off across the blasted terrain. In the centre of the still burning crater he placed the pieces of armour. The sergeant would be remembered.
Then the Iron Knights formed up and marched on. There was a world to be liberated.
The Space Marine Crusade against the xenos forces on Aurora Prime consists of many hundreds of marines from half a dozen chapters. Battle brothers from the Blazing Hammers fight shoulder to shoulder with marines from the Salamander Chapter.
In the first hours of their arrival in the Aurora system their overall commander Pedro Kantor of the Crimson Fists ordered a three pronged assault against the planet. The first strike would consist of the 1st and 2nd Companies of the Crimson Fists striking at the Necrons that had begun to emerge in the Northern Akos.
Other Chapters would strike the Golvidis Heights and secure them. They would be particularly focused at clearing the Northern foothills of Chaos forces.
Finally a strong force of Black Templar’s and Marines of the Golden Sword would land down on Hythun Prime and the Carag Jungle and clear the region of the traitorous forces that had taken control.
The initial assault met a number of difficulties. The marines landing down on the Golvidis Heights were able to take up secure positions all along the mountainous area. After a series of fire fights rooted out a number of Iron Warrior positions but only after fairly heavy losses.
In the North the Crimson Fists drove back a strong force of Necrons and took over a line of abandoned bastions. However the Necrons have returned and in stronger numbers. The Crimson fists are now engaged in a bitter war of attrition that they cannot afford.
Meanwhile the Marines of Golden Sword made planet fall deep in the Carag Jungle. The last report from them indicated they seemed to be fighting a great swarm of Tyranids. Contact has not been re-established in the last 24 hours. As a result the Black Templar assault on Hythun Prime was unsupported and though they breached the walls of the traitor held city were unable to consolidate their gains. They have been forced back and now must contend with both the fortified defenders of Hythun Prime and the newly emerged Tyranid horde.
Co-operation between the forces of Adeptus Astartes and the Imperial Guard has so far been somewhat lacking.
Alright listen up Commanders, I need an army and company from each person willing to participate, and let's start rolling on just what we want to accomplish in this Campaign. I have a few ideas myself, but would rather wait and see who's in before I start up discussion.
By the way, the other Factions fear our might, let's make that fear justified.

Army Fluff (Will edit overtime):
"Commander Adonis sir, we are being hailed."
"Patch me through Brother Corban."
That transmition was full of static, the voice cutting out often, slightly annoying Adonis as he sat in quiet contemplation. With a simple gesture he had the psychic distress call focused, and the voice came in clearer, if only a bit.
"Bat...many wounded....the great ene-....Aurora Prime..."
That was it, the message ended, leaving all on board the ship perplexed by this turn of events. Adonis sat in his throne, gauntleted fingers crossed together, his his head lowered and eyes closed as he thought. Something sounded...familiar about that name.
"Brother Corban, see if we have any forces stationed in that area, as well as any recent disturbances."
Corban did as ordered, turning and gathering what information he could. His face showed mild surprised, the normally stoic appearance replaced with a small sense of worry. "It seems the Iron Knights, as well as many of our Brother Chapters, have recently mobilized in this area. We received orders as well, but due to the earlier..circumstance, I suppose it was forgotten."
"This does not bode well Brother Corban, I have a feeling this encounter will be one worthy of our forces. Can't you feel the taint from here? Something is...wrong with that area, but I can't put my finger on it. Relay the orders to the Fleet Master, we make for Aurora Prime at once."
"Yes Commander, as you command."
Commander Adonis stood, his gold trim cape flowing behind him, not really knowing where he was going. Chaplain Heracles waited just outside the door, as if anticipating his arrival. Adonis gave his friend a peculiar look, curious as to what the Chaplain needed.
"Brother Heracles, is there something a matter?"
"Yes Adonis, you finally took a look at the message, have you?"
"I have...you knew of this assignment?"
"Of course, but those Orks were a more pressing concern. I'll be honest with you Brother, I do not like this, it feels as if Chaos laid a trap, and we are the vermin drawn to the bait. Since I read the report our Company has come under dark influence, many of our Battle Brothers succumb easier to the Black Rage, our Librarians speak in arcane tongues, and many Scouts have fallen ill only to die soon after."
Adonis nodded, following the Chaplain as he relayed what he observed. The situation was more dire than Adonis expected, amid the fighting with savage Orks it hadn't occurred to him to check upon his company. The neglect, it would seem, has cost him dearly.
"...I just don't understand it Adonis. Our faith in the Emperor has never been stronger, yet we are constantly plagued, somehow..it ties in with this area. Aurora Prime holds the key to our questions. I don't know about you, but I am curious to unlock them Adonis."
"So we shall Brother Heracles, in due time. I've been experiencing strange sensations, as if I had been there before. Tell me...has our Primarch ever been here?"
Chaplain Heracles stood, stone faced, writing something down on his datasheet. With a curt nod he dismissed himself without giving Adonis a straight answer, only fueling his already abundant curiosity. Was the Black Rage coming over him as well? Were these visions of Chaos origin? What trap, if any, were the forces of Chaos planning?
So many questions, and it would all be answered in due time.

Seems like the Adeptus Astrates are gatheirng their might. An entire Company of the Blood Angels no less.
Worth baring in mind that Chapter Master Pedro Kantor of the Crimson Fists is the 'official' leader of the Astartes crusade on Aurora Prime.
No doubt the presence of such an honoured Chapter as the Blood Angels will be gratefully accepted.

That's fine Nemesis, whatever your Faction and size is just list it here, I plan to (Slowly) build up the entirety of my 5th Battle Company and figured I would use it for the fluff, would make for a rather imposing look and give the Crimson Fists some much needed support. Dante is an advocate of having the Blood Angels make an impressive entrance, this should be a grand enough look.
As the campaign rolls along I look to develop my army along with the story fluff, would give me something to do as I win/lose games, and add character to the army I am building.
when you sort out who will be your most competent and worthy commander that person should PM me to get commander goodies. Such as your factions control point targets
The Raven Guard's Third Company, under Shadow Captain Kayvaan Shrike, will join the cause.
Faction Commander? I hardly care who it is really, as long as said person is competent, confident, and has a direct goal in mind. Pressure under fire helps as well, you got my sexy council whoever it will be.
While the loyalist death guard are embattled on their death bed of Istvaan III, their future reincarnate, the Death Reapers, shall come to aid the campaign with a century of marines. They have been sent to Aurora Prime by the chapter master Maximus himself, as a show that the reapers still hold true to their brother Astartes.
We shall reap the souls of our enemies so that the golden throne shall shine bright yet another day!
