Which is the best unit to use in a guard army?

    Dear esteemed Witch Hunters,
I've got a 1500pt-2000pt guard army list and to be basicly honest my guard army is always killed in combat. So i was looking through the Witch Hunters codex and i really do like them, so my question is this, shall i:
    • Scrap my guard and do some conversions so i can have a pure Witch Hunters army?
    or
    • Keep them and get some allies form the Witch Hunter army?
What do you think? Thanks in advance

    From Wolfy09

1st Combined Regiment. Contains Tallarn,Cadians, Catachans,Valhallan,Attilan,Armageddon Steel Legion and Vostroyan. Most Kills in one turn: 98 space marines and 6 rhinos with only the stompa's Gatla Gun (only that)

I think starting a witch hunter force does not negate your previous guard army.
THe two work very well together, at first while youre paining and collecting sisters army you can incorporate them into your guard force; later on you incorporate guard in your sister forces, and if you want eventually field a whole sister force.

Good luck, and welcome to the inquisition =D

All allied rules are written in the witch hunters/ daemonhunters codicies.

http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...w-new-dex.html is a thread to read, not a bad start, i remember there was a good thread with a compilation of allies' use in WH and DH.

I will find it later on if I can.

Normal squads of sisters should compliment a guard force nicely. Put them in chimeras (cheap guard ones) and rush them at objectives. They would work much like veterans only with power armour and bolters. Hell carapace armoured vets cost 10 points less than them what are the differences:

    Carapace Armour v Power Armour
    Orders v Faith
    3 special weapon v 2 special weapons
    Lasguns v Bolters
    BS4 v BS3

The sisters are 10 points more base without a sergeant.
IG Best Gen 1st overall of 10 DE 4th overall of 6
    Eldar 3rd Overall/Best General of 26--2nd Overall/Best General of 7--1st Overall/Best General of 11

Both vets and sisters are BS 4, and you didn't mention that the vets can have 3 special weapons AND a heavy weapon.
    The rest are good points.
I think the two compare real nicely now, being fairly balanced for their respective point costs.
