Okay, after selling my Playstation 2 and numerous games on eBay, I was able to get my hands on some SM Models, The SM Codex, and various paints. Much the the chagrin of my wife, I worked diligently, and assembled and painted every model in one week. Now that I am out of models to build and paint, and the awe of the pictures in the codex is starting to wear off, this is my dilemma.
I have assembled the models as they appear on the boxes, just for fun. I have:
Space Marine Captain
Space Marine Command Squad
2 Tactical Squads (with flamers and missile launchers)
These models, in my opinion, look awesome painted in an Irish color scheme (green, white and orange), but I am not sure what my next buy should be. The army is now legal, but I would like opinions as what to do next. What's logical?
You could probably invest in a couple vehicles to transport your squads. I recommend the Razorback because you can easily make it into a Rhino should you want the extra transport capacity.
I would have got some rhinos, predators and land speeders.
Cougmeister has said it right. Razorbacks would be the smartest next purchase for your army, as they double as Rhino's, but have the bits incase you want take some extra fire power. Obviously at that point, you don't need to glue the top guns on, because they dry fit without a problem.
Also, start thinking tactically as to how you want to play. There is no right or wrong answer you are going to get in this thread here you started. You'll notice in the Army List section, if you look at peoples lists, SM armies can varry tremendously on what is being taking. My recommendation, make up some army list of your own. Start with what you got, use the codex and write out a list. Then make a 1000 points. Then make 1500 points. Then move on to 2000 points. Each of these list should have the same fundamental core (what you have now) in each, with each adding in some extra units YOU think will be nice to have. These list will then serve as to your wishlist basically, because for you to play that 1000/1500/2000 points, you'll need to add in the next thing. Obviously, you won't have to jump right to your 2K list, remember it's a wishlist. Players who get extremely worried about how "good" a unit is, and only take the "best" tend not to have as much fun as someone playing with models they enjoy, regardless of their fire power or whatever.

Definitely get some Razorbacks. Just don't glue the top hatch on so you can convert them to a Rhino. It probably wouldn't hurt to get a AC/HB sponson (Dakka) Predator as well. You could even consider getting a Dreadnought after the transports. They're great for both small and large games alike.

Razorbacks are cool but don't forget Whirlwinds are just as versatile.
Marines generally need a bunch of support vehicles so get one of each for variety.
