planet strike is here!! Deamonhunters are in my opinion the second best army in planetstrike missions. With the new rules for these out i want to highlight deamonhunters extreme advantages .
Firstly evey model which isnt a tank has to deep strike with models who have already got the deep strike special rule able to assault aswell.
As deamonhunters you need at least one inquisitor with 2 mystics. Then any unit which deep strikes within 4 D6 of the inquisitor get shot at by either the inq squad or a squad within 6. since nearly every model is deepstriking this is very effective. Ive done this with a vindicator and its devstating.
also by doing this your oponent will then try to avoid that area meaning he is quite far away so he cant even get into ccb and get shot at. Also grey knites are good at defending as they will probably get assaulted first turn and will do quite well as they have true grit and str 6.
I was wondering whether anyone has any other ideas you could do with deamon hunters in planetstrike and your own experiences + what you would take eg purgeons, termies, storm troopers, inquisitor etc.....
Nothing more funny than 3 inquisitors with sanctify when facing deamons. They cant do anything while you stand in front of them having a tee break.
Lol not sure if this would work for us but what i saw at my last visit to GW was a BT player using all termies to deep strike and kill everything. Worked effectivly for him though i think because he could change his weapons to things like chainfists
Inq w/mystics work well...if you're on defense. If you're the attacker, then you lose that advantage. Besides, almost any marine army and imperial guards as well may take Inq w/mystic allies so pretty soon, you will see more and more of them in planetstrike missions. Our secret will no longer be a secret anymore.
Also, a problem I'm seeing is how do you take out the AV14 bastions? Grey knights won't be able to do it. Lascannons aren't that reliable. That means we're going to have to use meltabombs, Land Raider Crusaders, multi-melta dreads, and inducted guardsmen w/meltas.
But if I'm attacking, definitely get some GK terminators w/at least 1-2 TH/SS's. It's great as an attacker...you don't need any troop choices, so you can get all terminators. Finally, my dream of a "Deathwing" Grey Knight terminator list will be realized.
I've not gotten into Planetstrike yet, but surely just buying a cheap Inquisitor Lord and 2000pts of Orbital Strikes would be the easiest thing to do?
Culexus and word of the Emp for in defense is now an option.
And welcome back holy relic!
In defence the deamon hunters should do very well. Plenty of cover to keep our expensive marines alive and we also get extra lascannon and autocannon thrown in on turrets that we can use to help out with our traditionally weak anti tank firepower. Mystics will have their uses as will cheap inducted guard and ISTs to hold the bastions while the grey knights man the baricades and counter attack.
In attack we may have to rely on small IST squads with pairs of meltas to open up the bastions. Meltabombs are needed and I think there is a stratagem that gives infantry them for free. The orbital strike will have a decent chance at cracking a bastion but remember you cannot turn it off once you call it in. Take PAGKs as fast attack to enable them to assault upon arrival and a tleport homer will help us to not loose expensive squads to misshaps.
Quorn! - Protein for the Protein God.
dont mystics only allow you a free shooting round at deep striking daemons, not any old model?
suddenly a vindicare could kill a lot more models per game...
that would be fun, but on the attack,
I have no idea what i would do...
