I recently built a SM Captain with what I thought was a relic blade and a storm shield, but later on I found out he was armed with a power sword and a combat shield. I don't think captains can take combat shields, and I have never used him in combat, so I don't know how the power sword will work out. He looks really awesome with his cape and stuff, so I don't want to take him apart. If I leave him the way he is, does he stand a chance in combat?
Space Marine Captain
Power Sword, Combat Shield, Iron Halo
I would rather find out from ya'll before he is embarassed at my local gaming store. If he gets destroyed easily, I cannot in good conscience EVER use him again. Hell, with the combat shield, he may not even be legal!
Relic blades can be almost any close combat weapon - there's no reason why your powersword could not be used as a relic blade, just paint it a bright colour or something to make it different from all the other power weapons in the army and explain to your opponent what it is before you start playing.
Same story with the shield. Captains cant take combat sheilds, so any shield on your Captain could be counted as a storm shield. Just make your opponent aware to save confusion.
Hope this helps
Awesome! Guess who just got some rep points!
so i take it he does stand a chance?

A captain with a relic blade and a storm shield is a farily standard good build. He'll do fine.
Thou shalt remember:
Warhammer Fantasy armies do NOT have Codices. They have Army Books.
