Hey guys, well i just bought the Land Speeder Storm and i was reading the codex and it says that my scouts are able to disembark and charge/assault an enemy unit. But how would i represent this and who would disembark? (I've already glued them in place so i cant take them out of there). Do I use markers or proxies to show them assaulting or would i actually have to buy new models to represent this? And do only 3 scouts with bolters come out or can the guy manning the heavy bolter on the speeder come out and also assault and the driver? Would they use Bolt Pistols for assault?
-Hey, you need to get scout models to represent when they leave the speeder. Keep them off to the side of the board until you want them to disembark. Thats when you place them around model.
-Only the sqaud embarked on the storm leave. Driver stays (and I assume the gunner model too, but I dont know how many models the kit comes with...). The storm will still be able to fire its H.Bolter after the scouts bail out.
-As for assaulting from the Storm, the vehicle is open topped, which means after it moves, your guys can bail out and assault as normal. Look at how you disembark from a vehicle and the open topped rules.
Like MC Bone Giant said, you need to buy a seperate scout squad to go with the storm. THe scouts that come on the frame are not meant to be used as a unit of scouts and are there purely for show (and they do that job well they just look awesome) so you would need to have a seperate scout unit. On a side note, to save any game disputes on the weapon as the storm is open topped you do have to tell your opponent how your scouts are equipped, as the scouts with bolers hanging out culd cause some confusion.
A little off topc here but it does go with the land speeder storm and embarked troops idea, and I thought this would be better than starting a new thread. The shooting of the scout unit inside the storm, is that influenced by how fast the land speeder moves, and ifit is can bolters still fire as thy would be like defensive weapons with their strength four?
Ask me about the Black and White Space Marine on the Black and White Bike!!!
I was wondering the same thing. At first I was impressed with GW, selling the 5 scouts with the speeder, and keeping the cost the same as the normal speeder. But then after looking at the pics of the model, and sprue, I realized the models are only for posing on the speeder. That's it.
So you can keep it like that and just use it as a fast attack slot, or you need to buy a box of scouts to use when they disembark.
They will disembark and assault as normal per the rules book on disembarking and assaulting from an open stopped vehicles.
On a side note, has anyone tried playing these yet, with the scouts? I'm tempted to proxy some in a RG army I'm building. Just curious how effective a speeder with AV 10, carrying only 5 scouts, actually is.

Age is a state of mind, and since I have no mind, I don't age.
