Has anyone been successful in using a valkyrie to get a first turn charge? Theoretically it works (Scout to 13", disembark 2", move 6", charge 6") but with the model the way it is, the disembark points are greater than 14" away when the valk itself is 12" away.
I don't think that it is possible to do without cheating in some way. Let me know if you've been successful and how?
cant u just scout 24" with the valk?
Yes you can move 24" in your scout move but I believe you also must be at least 12" away from the enemy at the end of the scout move.
Probably you can, depending on enemy deployment and whether you have first turn, but...why? We're not Eldar. You won't accomplish anything except saving my Chaos Marines a long walk through ordnance fire.

Well you could always face enemies like Tau or other Guard. Then almost all assault armies have non cmbat units, guardians, lootas, havocs, basically anything with lots of heavy weapons. You could also use this to bring meltaguns (and insurance melta bombs close to the enemy) they both need you to be within 6" at the start of the shooting/assault phase to do their jbs propperly.
So yes a firs turn charge with guard is both possoble and often useful.

Stick Grey Knights or Sisters in the Valk/Vend and you can have a pretty decent CC unit getting a turn 1 charge.
However they will most likely die to heavy fire the next turn or two.
