Obviously the current metagame is such that an IG horde is not the typical method for winning, but I have heard more than a few people say that IG horde is very "cheesy or Beardy"
My simple question is why? Obviously its effective, noone is going to deny that, especially with the new orders. I can see a ton of heavy weapons, I just don't see how it represents such an unfair army.
Please, enlighten me!
I don't know why anyone would call it cheesey, thats what the IG are supposed to do. We can win through strength of numbers and lots of firepower. I would say its no different from an ork horde except ours does shooting while theirs charges.
I tried to design my list around mass infantry with a few heavies for support. If I ever get enough models I might drop all the tanks and go pure infantry.
People say things for a variety of reasons. If your army doesn't have enough guns to deal with upwards of 100 models, you may say it's cheesy. In reality, their list is flawed. Mass Infantry IG is far from cheesy and actually presents a good number of challenges for the player using it.
Most people wouldn't say a massed infantry is cheesy, me being one of those people.

Cheesy = "Waah! I'm a poor player but would rather blame you, keep my ego intact, and continue being a scrub. Also I am dumb and smell bad."
Infantry Guard has a lot of bodies and can put out a ton of fire, but they suffer from being slow and very vulnerable to assaults and of course massed shooting.
Viable yes, not cheesy.

Space marine players complain if they come across something they can not easily beat.
IG horde has downfalls as well as any other army type, main thing being is lack of leman russes which i figured the enemy would love.
Most of the complaining I hear is that horde IG is very dull, with relatively little movement or close combat going on. I'm sure that was a factor in the latest Codex's emphasis on vehicles and special weapons. It is also true (in my opinion) that fifth edition does a lot to promote headlong charges, which of course is undesirable against large gunlines. Don't sweat it too much. If anybody complains, ask them if they'd rather play a six-Russ list. I expect you'll get results.
