I purchased the SM battalion box set today and had intended assembling the assault marine seargent with a thunderhammer.. only to find that the sprues didnt include one, I was wondering if I was to buy an assault marine box would this include a thunderhammer? or is it the same set as is in the batallion? If so where would you normally get hold of a t'hammer? what boxes include a t'hammer?
thanks v muchly
No, the Assault Marine box set does not include a Thunderhammer. The sprues int he Battalion set are most likely the same as you would get with the Assault Marine box set.
Thunderhammers, as far as I know, only come in the Assault Terminator box set. And a few Independent Character packs.
There are several bits sites, however, I've found thunderhammers to not be in stock all that often.
5 assault termies are part of my overall completed army list anyways so i should hopefully end up with 2 extra spare thunderhammers once i get that far... thanks for the reply
Bear in mind that if you want to use a thunder hammer from the Assault Terminators box, that the arm holding it is Terminator-armoured and not power armoured, so you might need to do a spot of conversion to make it look correct on a power armoured marine.
I constructed an assault marine sergeant with a thunder hammer, by making my own hammer. I took the power axe from the assault marine box and chopped the head off. I made a hexagonal head for the hammer by glueing two pieces of sprue back to back, and I filed that into a hammer head shape. I added guitar string to represent power cables, and stuck a piece of a fantasy spear shaft onto the bottom of the handle to make it a bit longer. It looks pretty nice actually, but I haven't gotten around to working on painting it for a while.
Thou shalt remember:
Warhammer Fantasy armies do NOT have Codices. They have Army Books.
