What's up Librarium,
I'm teaming up with some Tau against Marines and Eldar for a game this monday (3000 a side so 1500 per player.) I run a Vulcan list which I will drop below but was wondering if you guys could come up with anything (a list or strategy).... let's just say interesting... to throw into the mix. I want it to be competitive and clever. mostly clever though .
Librarian Helios- Gates, Avenger
Squad Aegaeon 5 assault terminators 5 hammers
Squad Redemption Tactical Squad- Melta, (Librarian goes here)
Squad Talos Tactical Squad- Power weapon, Flamer, Multi Melta
Squad Firestorm Tactical Squad- Power Fist, Flamer, Multi Melta
Vindicator- Dozer Blade
Predator- Lascannon Sponsons
I also have an additional 10 Tac Marines, and a Dreadnaught.
The Eldar player runs a very shooty mechanized list with dire avenger in serpents, fire prism, warwalkers, avatar and wraithlord. Marine player runs pedro w/ sternguard and loves drop pods.
ALRIGHT GUYS I'M COUNTING ON YOU, GO!
Hi, great to hear you're having a team battle! Anyway my gripe with doing something like this is you can't go into the battle with your preferred army in mind. You have to work with your mates strengths and weaknesses.
So I've only been playing for about a year but I have played many strategy games and whenever you team up with someone you have to work out the kinks in their army by strenghthening it with yours and vice-versa. So I know Tau have alot of firepower but lack in CC but they still have to be aggressive as much as a CC army.
So lucky you the Space Marines have awesome firepower as well but also are good in CC. So work with that strength and support your mate, example play the baiting game!
Let the Tau player rush in devastate them in the shooting phase, this will draw them out, then the Tau will sit still and continue shooting aggressively letting your marines get in closer and make short work of them with your Melta's, Flamer's and CC!
This means you can get rid of the Drop Pod Squad and Librarian for more Devastating units like Assault Squad. Maybe lose your Speeder's for more Assaulty/Shooty units like Sternguard or a Command Squad!
Vindicators are great as they have short range and awesome firepower so maybe replace the other Pred with another one.
Hope I helped!
