I went to buy the codex yesterday and heard about a new thing in it that makes me rethink the way i was going to play. So i get to GW to buy the book and check it out, they are out and wont have them in stock for a week. My question is can i put heavy weapons in my regular squads still? I normally put a heavy bolter or rocket in each squad.
Yes you can, it's listed as one of the options for infantry squads. The difference is that now you replace two models in the squad with a team, which has a single profile and is mounted on a large base.
Yes. The heavy weapon 'team' is just a large base with the heavy weapon on it, and that can be put in infantry squads. By contrast, the heavy weapon 'squad' is a combination of three teams and is its own unit. Complicating this, however, is that heavy weapon teams are sold separately; they aren't included in the infantry boxes and so you must purchase the heavy weapon 'squad' box and then put the three 'teams' into separate infantry units, which gives you a couple grunts left over.
