    Stormlords

How do you effectively use them?

The bolters are nice, but essentially they have no AT so any other tank is a threat they can't take out. The troop transport capacity is nice but why does anyone really get a stormlord over a Baneblade or Banes word.

To transport a mass amount of troops and to absolutely shred infantry. If you want to shred them harder, drop the lascannons for targetters and stand still for a 30-shot barrage at whatever deserves your ire, be it MEQs, GEQs, or Light Transports.

What do you guys use for transporting in the Stormlords.

Regular Guardsman are not worth it, aren't stormtroopers the only other alternative?

Sticking 6 Heavy Weapon squads in it is a tactic I'd like to see some critiqueing on.

Keep the Stormlord back with an extra pair of sponsons, firing it's main gun twice and with 18 Autocannons firing out of it sounds like a bunch of dakka.

Yeah Thats what i would do, many apoc armies have units Deep striking and flank marching, use that big boy to take them out right after they enter. If you put 6 heavy weapon squads you would only be taking 18 units of the 30, snice they are a single unit now rather than six men, so you could arm 15 with auto cannons, and then 15 with something else like missiles or las cannons, then either fire a ton of dakka at a tough unit 48" away with the heavy weapons and then take down a unit or meqs a turn with the mega bolter

I dunno about you but my stormlord is armed with 4 lascannons, so I'm not sure where you get the idea it has no AT.

Plus at S6 the megabolter is quite capable of ripping apart 2 squadrons of light vehicles a turn just through sheer weight of fire.

Oh and stick an inquisitor with 2 mystics in there to stop any deep striking nearby.

    It can get very messy

That's what I was gonna say. You could even use it as a GKT transport, 18 of them rushing out of that open topped super heavy (4 spots are taken by inquis and mystics) has got to kill something, its also a pretty good melta deterrent.

How about putting Veterans in it? Three plasma guns per squad can do a lot of damage. Especially with Veterans higher BS.

Actually I retract what I said earlier in this thread about the Targetters on the Stormlord. I just checked and it appears that you cannot do that. (Is it only the Baneblade/Hellhammer that can do that?)

Why not stick 40 ratlings in there? lol. It could have potential...
I think 4 vet squads, with 3 speciall weapons, carapace, and demolitions wouldn't be a bad idea at all.
    Why.
