Last thing i want to do is re-kindle that "Master of the Ordnance and Mortar Thread." RIP thanks to the FAQ.
In any event, has anybody tried mixing up ordnance barrage models in the same unit? I'm curious about the power of using the Griffon's accurate bombardment rule with, say, a basilisk or other option?
Some may argue cheese, but spotting rounds are used in this millennium, i'm curious if they'll be permitted in forty.

If it's in range then I'm fine with it.
However the main problem with the Griffon-Collossus/Bassilisk combo is range, the Griffon can only fire indirectly so to gain the benefits of it's re-roll a Basilisk would need to fire indirectly also, leaving you a 12" ring with which to effectively fire.

Well since the IG FAQ denounced the Mortar-MoO tactic, I'd say it doesn't work anywhere. Plus Griffons and Basilisks should fire at different targets, so kind of a waste.
I'd say don't do it, there will always be people who cry cheese whenever you do something like this. Here's a rule of thumb; if you have to ask if it's legal its probobly best to not do it. Here's why, if you think its that unfair it might be illegl imagine what the guy who just lost his prize unit to your trick is going to think.

On further review this only works well with the colossus, due to range restrictions on the bassilisk. I was in no hurry to take the colossus anyway, but it still has it's uses.

140 for an AV12 Open Topped is a bit much. Yeah it can barrage but....well true LoS makes it risky. There are other ways to ignore cover.
If the need for precision artillery is that great, I'd rather fire the Basilisk directly than buy a new tank just for a reroll. I'm surprised GW didn't FAQ the Bassie/Griffon combo at the same time as MoO/mortar, but for now just don't expect to make friends with that trick.
