i'm messing around with guard at a 1000pts and i was wondering what would fair better,a lone demolisher or two leman russes? i have all three models and i do plan to using them in larger battles but at a thousand points your on a pretty lean budget. If its the demo you say i was planning on running two sentinals with it. i was also wondering what to give the demo as well, was thinking multimeltas and a hvy flamer........

Personally I beleive that the demolisher is the point for point best russ in our codex. Also with the new demolisher kit you souldn't stress too much about how to equip it because all of the weapons are interchangable; if you don't glue hem it can be a plasma sponson executioner, then a melta sponson punisher, or even a bolter sonson demolisher.
Try out numerous loadouts and find out what suits your play style.
That said here are some of my fave combos:
Demolisher lascannon multi meltas Pask
At 260 points it isn't cheap but it can kill almost anything in 1 turn of shooting, but it'll often only get 1-2 turns of shooting so make them good nes. Definately fun. It also works as a great distraction.
Demolisher heavy flamer plasma cannons
At 205 points it still isn't cheap but it is useful. It has numerous AP2 blast weapons and can destroy MEQ armies, GEQ armies, and the demo cannon makes a mockery of transports and even many heavy tanks.
Demolisher Heavy Flamer
Cheap at 165 points it is the most mobile of the 3. Just keep up a steady rate and blast away with the demo cannon, when the enemy closes the heavy flamer can add some kills to the tally.

At 1000 points? I'd run two russes.
Why? Because your one, lone tank will die really fast. The regular Leman Russ is plenty effective at 1000 points, and running two doubly so. The demolisher is nice, but only running one is just asking for trouble. One lucky shot and its over for them.
I second cKerensky. You won't encounter many hard targets in a 1k game, anyway. As for Demolisher loadout, I like hull heavy bolter and sponson multimeltas. The MMs pair nicely with the cannon in range and hard target-killing and the heavy bolter provides a bit of range. I lose most of my Russes to close combat attacks, not shooting, so I think flamers on Russes are bad karma--it's as if one is planning to touch the enemy. A hull lascannon and no sponsons is a good efficiency loadout but the savings is only 15 points.
