easier acsess to special weapons
When in charge range they can shoot
When in charge range they can choose not to assault
1 more attack on the charge
So far the only reason I can think of to take blood claws is if you take the land raider crusader you can fill it up pretty much.
Am I missing something or is this just a bit of a fail from gw?
and the points costs are the same?
can you give grey hunters CCWs?
Cost is the same and Grey Hunters are equipped with both pistols, bolters and ccws, ala CSMs.
And yes I agree with you Cucumber, GW messed something up here.. GH's are almost always the best choice..
It seems silly, but I think the idea was to stop people loading up on cheap scoring units and filling the rest of their Force Org slots with head-smashing stuff like Wolf Guard or Thunderwolf Cavalry.

Seems like Blood Claws got the crappy, WS3-and-no-special-weapons end of the stick there.

I'm planning on running at least one squad of BC's. In my mind a SW army without them just isn't the same. Most enemy's won't see them as a high level threat until they're close because of the low BS and WS but once they're close I doubt anything will survive. 60 attacks on a charge is nothing to laugh at. on average against other marines that's going to be about 15 forced saves. whereas the retaliating squad will force on average 3 saves need I say more.
BC's are WS3 Regular marines are WS4 So BC hit on 4+ Reg on 3+
Both are T4 and S4 so both wound on 4+
This is based on no PW or PF
Lets start with BC's: 4 attacks each on a charge
In a full unit that's 60 atacks
To hit you need a 4+ so roughly half hit making 30
Wounding on a 4+ means 15 forced saves for the regular marines
Reulting in 5 unsaved wounds on average because +3 saves(2/3 saved)
Regular marines 1A each when charged so 10A total
they hit on 3+ so 6.3 will hit
they wound on 4+ so 3.15 wounds
Because of their 3+ save BC's will save 2.10 meaning 1.05 unsaved wounds
All in all BC's win.
Not bad. Can't really overlook the fact that 15 Blood Claws cost 225pts and can only ride in Crusaders though >_<
