Ive currently got a small DH force, and I was thinking of taking them as allies in a WH army, but I've been hearing alot of good things about the new Space Wolves. Would it be very effective to take a SW army and then take Inquisition as allies?
Depends what sort of Space Wolves army you're planning on running, although the Psychic Hood and Tarot would be useful items to bring to lists from a Codex that's mostly based on footslogging and alpha striking.
well ive not got my hands on the new codex yet, but it would be something that would be effective playing with mainly PAGK's/ FAGK's, maybe a GKGM and a retinue of TGK's in a Landraider
Honestly, there are DH units that are worth taking in any Imperial army, not just the SW.
* Deep-strike defense Inquisitor. At his cheapest, an elite =I= and a pair of mystics. Put them in one of your core army's transports and you're good to go. Give the unit a multi-melta servitor, too, and hey! You can even sit in the midfield in your transport bunker and pop vehicles. If you're lucky, and your borrowed vehicle lets you fire more than one model out the top (unlike sucky DH Rhinos and Chimeras), you can get more guns (e.g., psycannon on Inquisitor, a plasma cannon servitor, heavy bolter servitors, melta/plasma vets). Take the I-lord version of this and give him the game's best psychic hood, too.
* PAGK mini-purgation squad. 5-6 models, 2x psycannons. This unit is Troops and holds your home objective deep in your own deployment zone, giving your army decent fire support from range. They won't be shot off the table (huzzah! shrouding and power armour in cover!), and they're even reasonably scary in assault, so to get rid of them will require serious effort on the part of your opponent. Alternatively, you could stick this unit in a borrowed ride (IG Chimeras are best, but a Rhino isn't too bad) and you've got a shooty counter-assault threat that you can put wherever you need them.
* GKTs. The game's premier terminators, edging out even Vulkanized TH/SS termies. If you want to scare the piss out of your opponents, take 4-5 of these guys. I strongly suggest giving them a ride (IG Chimera, anyone?) and psycannons if you can afford them, but you can get by without either if you absolutely must.
* ISTs. Take 5 and give 'em 2 meltas. So cheap it's almost criminal. Troops with meltas. Give them a borrowed ride as well, though it isn't terrible to buy them their own DH Rhino. It's just that the DH transports suck compared to what the other Imperial armies get.
ninjabackhand: point and click, again, really? even after i give you an military term "shock tactic" you still call it point and click.
