So yeah...you wolves keep eatin my face off.
so help me im begging, how am I a chaos traitor pig..to take you guys down?
I keep having to play against complete drop pod armies with land raiders gallor and quite frankly I dont posses the skills to destroy you guys.
the drop pods alone keep me from moving anywhere or accomplishing anything but when backed up by land raider fill with all sorts of werewolves and the like trying to rip my face off my chaos space marine list always falls short.
I just need help on beating you. im desperate. mock me please.
Replied to in the CSM section. Play aggressively, use Meltas, Vindies and DP charges (if you must) to take out the Raider. The build you mentioned is elite, once you get the Raiders popped it's largely over if you babysit all your units.
thank you Prince of excess
but this is the mess I get into every game. my laz cannons from m obliterators usualy just bounce off the land raider. So i send in deamon prince to clean up land raider. he pops land raider. then the nasties ont he inside go rampant upon my deamon prince and then he concentrates the pods usualy in one area dominating area and wrecking army. or he dropd both near each other destroying defiler and/or the uni he is marching with.
He's countering your counter. You counter his LR with X and he kills X with Y. You need to kill Y with Z to win. Example: The DP pops a Raider. Some Bloodclaws fall out and tear open the DP. You need a babysitter unit of Marines there to Bolter those Claws down. Than all you lost is a DP to kill almost 500 points. Worth it.
Lascannons aren't ideal, Vindicators and Meltas are. I'd use Vindies over a Defiler in most lists, SWs or not. I'm assuming you play Mech in all this, if you don't, yeah you're basically screwed by his mobility.
I dont play heavy mech im playing thousand sons mostly couple units of them with bolt of change with one or two deamon prince 2-4 obliterators and sometimes a defiler. this list has no problem with any other armys it loves to take on orcs and eldar but the space wolves and space marine tank lists are hard.
but with the equation you helped me see through the problem better. now I need to find a way to stop the drop pods from eating my deamon prince helping units.
see I tried to do what you said befor with the charge raiders and rhinos with deamon princes if the lazcannons and multi meltas from my obliterators bounced off but when I do accomplish the death of the raider and make the contents fall out he always counters my other units with drop pods like every time and basicaly every game comes down to my hq being slaughtered then my other units being tied up so his other rhino comes in and unload and game is done.
I need to find a way to cover my deamon prince supporting units....so my supporting units need supporting units.....darn lol
thanks for the pointers though
Consider DSing the Oblits with some Icons. Use Smoke and Cover for the Thousand Son Rhinos. Get them in place, drop the Oblits to pop the Raider. Now you can AP3 Bolter them easily and charge the remains.
Advance the Defiler with your army and use the Rhinos to cover it. Block the rear and keep it near terrain. Forcing Pods to drop in terrain is a good idea, force your opponent into hard or risky decisions.
The key is keeping together. If you're apart his Pods can drop and pick you off, if you're together you have backup and can get him tit for tat. Use the Rhinos as expendable shields, a dropped unit Meltaing a Rhino has killed off 35 points and is now staring down AP3 return fire and DP/Defiler charges. Not good.
