expensive 10 man wolf guard unit.
10 grey hunters.
other (please specify).
I was wondering, the SW battle force comes with a drop pod so which unit should i put it in?
Bjorn (and the other HQs) cannot take drop pods of their own, they have to join a squad who has one which is impossible for Dreadnoughts.
I picked Bjorn as a drop podding Drednaught option. ( I always call my SW dred Bjorn. Stems from the 3rd edition dex when they took him out as an option. Nor do I want to pay the points now for him...) I would use your drop pod for a dred. Drop him in and cause havoc. You'll want to make sure, like for any drop podding unit, they get support soon. (its just dreds can last a little longer usually...)
In normal SM games, I usually have Dreads in pods followed later by shooty infantry, more often than not of the Sternguard variety.
In SW, we obviously don't have Sternguard, and there isn't exactly a super shooty unit for the codex as a whole.
Thus my first choice would be Dreadnaughts (but not Bjorn in 90% of cases because he is too expensive to take in most games anyway). They can cause a lot of problems for your opponent in the back, since they'll need their big guns focused at the rear, not the front. (assault cannon + cc arm w/ heavy flamer is a nice combo)
Other than that, I'd probably say grey hunters or wolf guard, built in a shooty mold.
It is possible to run assault teams from drop pods, but since you can't assault out of a drop pod you've got to wait a turn to do that, and that'll open you up to attacks.
Personally I like to hit them with big stuff early that causes havoc, followed later by precise strike teams that can pick off units as things begin to spread out.
Bjorn is crap overall, a regular Dread would be fine to Pod in with a MM. I'd take Grey Hunters with dual Meltas personally, solid unit and a good tank buster on the cheap.
