Ok, So my I play with a close group of friends, the only thing is taht i actually try to play a well rounded army adn they all play armies fittied to take out whatever army they are facing
I hadn't had too much trouble with it until recently, one friend takes 5 Carnifex adn 2 tyrants adn another is running a SM army with
-Master (jump pack relic blade, 3++ shiled)
-Honor Guard (gave them jump packs... like i sadi friendly plus he pays 25pts a model for them so we are all ok with it)
-3x10 Vanguard all with combi melta, and drop pod
-2x5 sniper scouts
-1x10 Vanguard all with power weapons and melta bombs
any way, we only really play annihilation and often dont roll off fro battle or table type.
I am asking you, LO, for help in strategies, tactics, and units to help me take these buggers out, completely made to beat that army and nothing else!!!
lol, so much for friendly games
This kid evan
First off start rolling for mission and deploy. An objective missions would crush that guy before Turn 1. DoW would also hurt a bit.
If you wanna ruin him, get Ordnance and an Inquisitor with 2 Mystics from the Demon Hunters Codex. They let you shoot at Deep Strikers, so those Vanguards go bye bye. That should win the game. 3 Demolisher wouldn't hurt.
i tried the inq. with 2 mystics, every drop pod dropped and each mystics roll was exactly 1" short.
I am willing to try again though
also a question with drop pods, if he drops a unit which then combats squads, do the mystics get to roll for each 5 man squad or the 10 man squad they would be if together?
and it may just be my terrible rolls, but the demolisher missed almost the whole time all three games, he killed 8 men I believe!
I did run a 10 man squad of stormies that wiped out his vanguard that he also splits, of course the next round they were killed lol
any way, I will try this advice again
so far in 1-2 with this army agianst the SM with ig
Yeah your problem is dice. :]
I believe the Mystics fire at only one unit if he Squads because of the FAQ for DH. It basically says you can fire at the unit getting out of the Pod or the Pod and since there's two units, you now pick between three targets. Don't quote me but off the top of my head that's how it plays out.
Also, defend your tanks with men. If he's dropping Meltas at you, keep the tanks back and make a semi-circle of men around them a few inches away. He can't drop in between the men and tank and anywhere else he's out of 6" for 2d6 pen. Good chance your tank will be fine.
Good advice so far.
A Failguard army is laughably easy to destroy. Surround your tanks with bubblewrap infantry to keep his meltas at bay, watch them get torn apart in HtH, then blow them away with templates. Bane Wolves would be exceptionally useful here.
Bugzilla can cause you problems, but they have difficult dealing with armor. Take plenty of tanks and shoot, shoot, shoot. Melta, Plasma, Lascannons, even forcing lots of saves with autocannons and lasguns can cause them to fail saves.
You don't need to tailor your list, just build a balanced all comers list and practice with it. A good balanced list with a strong general will beat any one-dimensional army any day. I'd also highly recommend playing the different missions and objectives to encourage more tactical play.
is it possible for a 10 man marine squad to pod and then split into combat squads when the land? assuming that the opponenent said that it was a 10 man squad already split into combat squads and because they were a squad of 10 they could drop in one pod then seperate into combat squads. is that allowed?
My advice will be the same as the others. If you've got lots of untis, spread them out so he can only assault one unit. When he assaults one unit and kills it the units near by can swarm in and blast him to peices. Especially on tanks as he can't consolidate after destroying them so he's nicely pasked together.
I'd grab a couple of Bane Wolves for a little close protection. He'll have to decide whether to assault/kill your Demolishers/Russ or take these boys out. Give him more targets than he can possibly cope with.
Against that list in particular i'd grab an Eradicator. 1 shot on those scouts and the units gone, cover or not. These are his only Scoring units so take these out and he can hope for a draw at best.
Also, Is this a Blood Angel list or a Marine list? He's got Vanguard AND Honour guard in there and they're from 2 Different Codecies.
You can combat squad upon exiting the Drop Pod, but only if you arrive via Pod. If you Deep Strike, you need to declare you are splitting at deployment.
Its from the marine codex, He runs a chapter master, which allows you to take a 3 man honor guard with a super champion, a banner guy thing, and another souped up guy. Also, Is this a Blood Angel list or a Marine list? He's got Vanguard AND Honour guard in there and they're from 2 Different Codecies.
And i have taken an eradicator which did a fairly good job at its job, but was relatively useless for the remainder.
I did use a colossus tank which ate through his vanguard, but then where melted down.
For the bubble wrapping my tanks tactic, would a 20 man infantry platoon work best, or vets or what?
Infantry work best, they're cheap and disposable. 1 squad per tank should do it.
