With the love for chaplains, balancing on the edge of mental illness, I just adore the chaplain terminator model.
I'm currently collecting chaplain models, and converting them to wolf priests.
I would like to know, if having a terminator chaplain is a good idea?
Thanks in advance.
I'm not a big fan myself, mainly because for that extra 1 on the save you're removing the ability to make a sweeping advance. You've already got a 4+ inv. and a power weapon, they do the job well enough for me.
Librarians are a different matter, but then they don't have an invulnerable save to start with.
They also lose 1 attack I believe. I love the model too, and I can understand your 'problem'. I have some serious love for the chaplain as well. What I tend to do is run Cassius instead. Tough as balls and pound for pound the best points wise HQ in our arsenal, along with the librarian.
Chaplains lost a lot of their shine in the new Codex, Termie Chaplains used to be beasts that maaaaaany armies had. Now....pretty meh unless charging with a big squad.
I'm sure you can do something with the models, they are pretty.

Well, you said that you "admire" the model so painting and using it on the table will be fun enough! If you were asked for advise on the best HQ out there, or something along those lines, the answer would be different perhaps. DO NOT be afraid to use the army/model that you like only because it is not the tournament-killer list comrade! Roll with what you like!
agreed, the chaplain jmp pack model is beautiful and is the best way to run him imo. makes assault squads a bit more killy, adds a power weapon to the power fist attacks, and generally is an all round dude.
the terminator chaplain model is amazing, and i've seen some outstanding paint jobs, but i couldn't justify it for gaming purposes.
the only way i justify it is with assault terminators they cant sweeping advance rerolls on the charge and a power weapon to the th/ss l/c you cant argue with it
and i advocate running a chaplian with a tooled up vanguard and a chaplain with full assault squad at the same time it makes people sick although it is expensive
i rock my world
They haven't been widely used since 3rd, I believe. 4th edition it was always better to use jump packs; 5th edition Chaplains are mostly pfeh.
If you love the model (it is awesome) then the best option is to stick him with a large TH/SS terminator squad, in a Crusader. Expensive, but very killy. The thunder hammers will benefit most from Litanies of Hate and the Crusader will get them there safely. Chaplains today are mostly about the re-rolls anyway.
