I'm somewhta having a great dilemma here.
I played a few small games and i really like the melee aspect of the game.
But i choosed to roll with SM cause i like the look and all that.
With the vanilla book you cant really field a melee heavy type of list.. normal marines lack the extra weapon to really be a threat out there, and jump infantry is expansive as hell.
So i played around alittle with the Space Wolve codex.. Their units are cheaper, are better suited for melee duty, and can still shoot at stuff if so is needed.
The problem so to speak is, should i play Space Wolves? If i want to go melee with the marines.
I got 2 battleforces of nidz standing but will probably wait with them untill the new codex arrives, maybe its too much with 2 melee heavy armies? Should i maybe keep SM as.. SM so to speak, shooty.
I got about 1700p unasembled Marines, would it be easy to make them "space wolfy" or do i really need the new boxes for certain things?
feels like a long nightly rant now hehe, well hopefully someone has a thought!
Ask me about the Black and White Space Marine on the Black and White Bike!!!
I have started playing space wolves because they fit my play style. Firepower and melee power wrapped into one package is really nice. My thoughts are that you should play your play style. If it's looks you're worried about, don't be. Only the most obnoxious people are going to whine about your chapters colors vs their rules. Seriously, models are models and rules are rules. As long as you don't mix and match codices you should be fine (no you can't run a deathwing with your black templars / pedro-wing, sorry).
Don't change the way you play in order to shoehorn yourself into a specific army. There's a reason SM have so many different codices, so you can choose your play style. So, in my opinion, start a space wolves army.
And tyranids and space wolves should play different enough that you won't get bored with them.
You should definately consider Black Templars or Blood Angels. Their codices are a bit outdated, but that should be remedied by GW sometime in the near future. They are both CC orientated armies.
See this thread here for a more in depth discussion on Space Marines and CC:
Blood Angels will be your best bet because of the impending update but... Black Templar are way cooler
Thanks for the replies and thoughts.I like that reasoning. I'l really like the thought of crazy power armoured madmen charging ahead. But i think thats for the future. I'l keep my marines "shooty" get my nidz to do the hand to hand.. and then fit something in to the "run away never get shot" type of armyOver all. I'd recommend keeping to different playing styles if you could. It will help stop games getting boring. It'll get old quick if you have the same play style all the time.
Thanks alot for your time
Spammie wins Lol. JK. You're welcome mate
