For every 5 models in the squad, one model in terminator armour may take a heavy flamer, assault cannon or cyclone launcher.
How do you interpret this?
1: You MUST have 5 models in order to take a heavy weapon, and a full ten in order to take two.
2: You may take a weapon for UP TO the first 5 models, and a second for up to the second 5.
In the first interpretation, "for every 5 models in the squad" would be taken to mean that you may only take one for every 5 you have taken. This would be similar to SM Tac squads only getting special and heavy weapons at a full 10 man squad, or Grey hunters and blood claws getting the second special weapon only at full strength. However, in the entries for those units, the wording clearly says "...if the squad numbers 10 models...", which makes, by comparison, the wolf guard entry ambiguous
In the second interpretation, "for every 5 models" means that for up to the first 5 models, you get a first heavy weapon. If you took lets say 4, you are using 4 of the first 5 slots out of the possible 10. You get a heavy weapon for this first group of slots. If you took lets say 7, you have used up the first 5 slots, and are now using the second group of up to 5 slots, so you get a second heavy weapon.
Both interpretations are plausible - they both have precedent in the game. Example: tac squads and current grey hunters for the 1st interpretation; the heavy weapons rules for wolf guard in the previous space wolf codex (which interestingly enough, was a lot more clear)
The reason I ask is because I don't have 5 squads to which to attach those WG in anything but the higher point games, and I like having the cyclone.
I think I've explained both cases in detail, so I'm not looking for additional explanations of the same entry I've already read, only a consensus of what view SW players out there support (I guess until it is addressed in the FAQ). However, if you find something in the codex that sheds light, then that also helps
+1 to TPM, it is very clear. 5 for the first heavy weapons, 10 for the second.
I agree with the above, don't invent more muddled rules in an already terrible worded Codex.

Seems pretty clear to me as well. If you have 4 wolf guards, you don't get a heavy weapon. If you have 5-9, you get 1. 10-14 = 2 heavy weapons and so forth.
Pretty cut and dry.
Wishful thinking methinks.
At least you can buy 5 WG, get a heavy weapon and then assign the heavy weapon WG to a different unit.

Mr_Wayne: "Some people believe that the World Eaters do not field any ranged weaponry. Those people often die at a distance."
He may be going off the 3rd ed bloodclaws, who got 1 PF per 5 models, or part there of.
That wording is not in this codex so I agree with the majority here... take 5 WG, 1 can have a heavy weapon. Take 10 WG, a second can have a heavy weapon.

I think your right Torden. Alot of the older codex's had it worded as 1 in 5. The newer ones say for every 5. It throws me off too.
Army's used: Space Wolves, Tomb Kings, High Elves, Tyranids, Tau and Eldar.
If you would intrepid this as taking a heavy gun with 4 termies i cant see the reason every other chapter not to be able to place special weapons to 4 man tac squads and 4 man termies either.I agree its up to 5.
