I was just reading the new DA FAQ (downloadable at the GW site). I noticed quickly that we no longer can use any form of allies not even the ones we could use from Witchhunters and Daemonhunters. I know this fit the fluff perfectly and everything since the DA trust no-one and all that, but isn't this a bit over the edge?
No allies at all?
This kind of puts DA at a disadvantage (notice:kind of) since all the other Imperial armies have the benefit of specialist daemon and psycher hunting troops. They even probit us from the use of Deathwatch.
This certainly gets me to consider a repaint of 15k pointworth of DA. I like many others liked to put DH or WH into my lists, both for the tactical benefit and the variation from the "boring rank and file SM" The thing that irritates me most is why the sudden change or heart? Why couldn't GW just have decided this when they made and printed the rules for DH/WH? My guess would be so that they could milk even us DA players for some extra bucks
Ah well thats my rant anyway lol, any others?
'But for corruption thou hast made Belial, an angel of hostility. All his dominions are in darkness, and his purpose is to bring about wickedness and guilt. All the spirits that are associated with him are but angels of destruction.
Duh, just play them as vanilla marines when you want to use DH/WH/Deathwatch etc. Obviously the DA would try to act 'normal' when they have inquisitors and other allies fighting alongside them to avoid raising suspicion... Or at least that's what you can tell your opponent :)
From what I can remember the DA aren't all that different from normal marines unless you have a lot of DW/RW so you shouldn't have too much trouble building a similar army to the one you usually play.
The only problem with changing them to 'nilla marines whenever you wish you call in the aid of the inquisition is the loss of their trademark weapon, the plasma cannon.
Seems to fit to me I s'pose but if your gaming group doesn't mind I'm sure you could make some fluff to fit the use of Daemonhunters. Not good if you play in GW or Tournaments though.

i really wanna read the blood angels one...but none of the downloads will work for me...bah
sounds like dark angels have it bad...especially as i think now in the new SM codex any marine tac squads can have plasma cannons
Never judge someone until you've walked a mile in their shoes...by that time they'll be a mile away, and have no shoes
I don't see how that hurts them really.. You can just take a 5 man devestator squad with 1 plasma cannon in every space marine army.. Not like DA's put a plasma cannon in every squad as lascannons are still pretty standard
Wow, thats a blow. It says in the DH codex that =][= can stop the dark angels search for the fallen to have them aid daemon slaying. Once again GW have screwed up there own logic.

I don't think beeing able to ally Daemon/Witch Hunters is that much of an advantage. Sure it's cool, but it's not THAT good (on time the DA gets to pay for all thier plasma cannons anyway ).
And it's not a DISadvantage not being able to have them - it's an advantage for the others to HAVE the option (a not-quite-so-good-anyway-option). <_<
And as you say, fluffwise it's correct. The only disadvantage they have now has something to do with SW or something - am I right?
hey man, your lucky you can even alliance. With dark eldar we can only alliance with like dark eldar, and are neurtal with chaos lol. Everyone else is against us.
