I was wondering, since a Wolf Lord has a WS6, is giving him a Wolftooth necklace (always hits on a 3+) worth it?
Likewise, should I arm him with a single Wolf Claw, or a Power Fist?
I'm creating Erik Morkai's Great Company, so my Wolf Lord would be representing him. There is little fluff, on the guy, so for now he's in power armor. He prefers a no-nonsense approach to battle, solving any problem with swift and bloody acts of violence.
His company boasts the most Wolf Scouts.
Thanks in advance.

It depends entirely on what you imagine him facing most of the time. If he's fighting other HQs or Elite combatants, then it may be worth it, as their WS is usually high enough to force a 4+ out of the Wolf Lord. If you'll be throwing him at standard infantry (typically a good idea), then it obviously won't be worth it in most cases, as most (although not all) standard infantry tends to have WS4 or worse.
Regarding the weapon choices, never give a powerfist to an IC. The drop in initiative is almost never worth it, especially if he doesn't have Terminator armour, because ICs may be singled out in close combat without a retinue (I'm unsure if the Wolf Lord has an option for a retinue or not; command squads typically don't count). Regarding the wolf claw, why only a single? Wouldn't it benefit the model more if you gave him two wolf claws, for that extra attack?
You've also got me wondering. Storm Shield in the off hand?Regarding the wolf claw, why only a single? Wouldn't it benefit the model more if you gave him two wolf claws, for that extra attack?
As for the necklace, it's not worth it on a WS6 Wolf Lord. Unless you face a lot of Wych heavy DE armies, in which case it might be nice not to hit on 5's.

I came, I saw, I got a different type of Leman Russ.

Thanks for the opinions so far.
I'm giving him the Belt of Russ, so the SS wouldn't be needed.
I guess I could go with a second WC, but that gets me to wondering if I should keep him by himself, or stick him within a unit?
I tend to agree that a Wolf Tooth Amulet is probably not worth it, unless you want to throw him at Daemon Princes and C'tan on a regular basis.
I think you should go the twin wolf claws, then you'll have an extra attack and the option of re-rolling failed to-hits or to-wound rolls. The rest rest of your army can bring the fire power to bear.
Enjoy the slaughter
Space Wolves: Great Company of Berek Starkiller, 3700 pts.
Imperial Guard: XII Cytherian Regiment: 1400 pts.
15 years experience, numerous other models not fielded.
WS6 is good enough to hit almost everything he'll be fighting on 3's so save the points.
I'd take a SS over a Belt just because you really don't want to lose that character, so paying for defensive upgrades is worth it. Losing the extra attack isn't as big a deal because he already has a good attack number.

It depends on what role you wish him to fulfill as well.
If he has Saga of the Beast Slayer, then the Wolf Tooth Necklace is a good idea.. Otherwise I wouldn't bother the points.
I've recently become a fan of this thing called Dubstep. And you should too.

(i may be a little late to post on this thread but...)
in my opinion the 10pt necklace is gonna be worth it, also dont just think about your lord going for the heaviest enemy unit but the heaviest enemy unit may come to you. or you could just go without unless you've got some points to spare.
All in all, i find it worth it and a big help, but thats just my opinion.
If you are purchasing one Wolf Claw, dont bother, get 2. I never purchase single wolf claws for any of my models, as the extra attack is well worth it. Have you thought about giving him a pair of WC, jump pack, belt of russ and throwing him into a unit of Skyclaws with a powerfist and MotW? its deliciously nasty.
Or give him saga of the bear with a storm shield and runic armour on a thunderwolf with either a frost blade or a thunder hammer. Expensive, but truly gruesome monster to behold. In a unit of Thunderwolves or Fenrisian Wolves works best.
You could also interchange Saga of the Bear for Saga of the Warrior for extra attacks or Saga of the Wolfkin if he is accompanied by Fenrisian Wolves to increase their potency.
Sorry im off-track. I wouldnt take a Wolf Tooth Necklace unless you are frequently up against Eldar / Dark Eldar, or Daemons. Hope this helps.
