So I've finally got tired of all the empty promises of a new Dark Eldar... ANYTHING, and decided I can probably get away with building an apocolypse-scale renegade army by the time GW comes out with anything new for my current army.
I was wondering about clever tactica in general, and any thoughts/advice on building an army based around 'taking the fight to the enemy' as they say.
I'm sort of planning to play my renegade army as a mish-mash of the renegade rules from Forgeworld (almost identical to IG, with a few extra choices), and including HQ choices from the adversaries list in the Witch Hunters codex (figured the worker's rabble could use a little inspiration from an apostate cardinal. =D ).
As of now, I have/am about to get 3 leman russ demolishers, a chimera, and... maybe a few guys short of having a single infantry platoon. What sort of direction would be wise to take from here? Should I get more chimeras and go a more armored company route, or stick to infantry platoons for more heavy weapons?
Well, I have 0 experience with IA rules and WH adversaries, so this is from a purely Codex standpoint.
Renegade IG can totally work, mech or foot, in an aggressive manor.
Would you prefer a rabble of troops steadily advancing on the enemy under the cover of heavy guns or an armored column of troops? Either could work for renegades depending on how well equipped they are and either can be made pretty solid competitively.

I could sort of go either way between the rabble and the organized column at this point. I keep picturing something like a wall of demolishers backed up by conscripts/workers rabble on foot, accompanied by the apostate cardinal in a chimera to grant them some leadership enchancement. And maybe keep two infantry platoons back in the deployment zone to lend fire support and camp objectives.
The secondary idea (which fits better into the fluff, but I am somewhat loathe to work on) is an almost all-infantry army, gaining most of its firepower from heavy weapons squads.
i'd go meq with a primaris psyker and psyker battle squad. might look bad ass fluff wise with a renegade army. load up on alot of chimeras ,valk/vendetta's and demolishers.
