Hey all, Ive been doing some looking around about running a bike list, and I have one question that I can't seem to find...
During my research a common tactic I saw was to run a captain on a bike, which therefore made all bikers troop choices. however, look through both the current and past codex, I can't find any special rule saying that..The Khan special character just allows outflank, but no fast -> troop option..Where is this crucial ruling I'm missing out on?
Edit: Just checked, on the box on page 130 under the space marine captain entry

The entry is in the page 132 under Space Marine Captain (above the Imperial Fist logo). A box where it says "Mounted Assault:" states that if a captain rides on a bike, bike squads with 5 models or more can be taken as troop choice.
Hope this helped.
It's on p. 130, in the box titled: Mounted Assault right under Khan's Unit Comp. and Unit Type.

thanks! Don't know why I skipped over that...anyways, I assume it would be well off to field a captain on bike along with a librarian mounted as well?
A captain is pretty well necessary in a bike list in order to make your bikes troop choices. A librarian would be a good secondary choice, depending on his powers. You could also try a master of the forge with a conversion beamer.
actually, I guess I havn't quite decided if I want to go a bike list or not...maybe just two squads, attack bike, speeder, some vindicators, predator, and some troops in rhinos..? ill post my list tomorrow
It's not like you have to buy them all at once. Maybe you should just buy a squads worth to start (assuming you have a marine army already), and test them out with your normal list.
If I went for a more mobile list, I essentially have everything (7 bikes + speeder + attack bike) so I think I'm just missing a Vindicator or two
I'm not sure if a vindicator really counts as mobile, given that the demolisher is an ordinance gun. Last I'd heard those were "scoot or shoot", not "scoot and shoot". Unless there's something in our codex that I missed out on?
