Can enemies draw LoS through a drop pod, since when it's deployed, the doors are down?
Also, if the DPod scatters onto impassible terrain or an enemy tank, one reduces the scatter by as little as possible to make room for the DPod. But do you make room for just the hull, or the doors as well?
And do you have to keep the doors down when it's deployed?
The SW codex doesn't mention any of this...
I couldn't think of anything funny, smart, or witty to say, so I said this.
Hope taht helps
Just my interpretation, I wonder if anyone can clarify this.
I was of the understanding that unless something prevented a door from opening, then they all had to open. Yes this is mostly from fluff, but the fluff says that the doors open automatically as part of the landing process, kind of like there's a level that opens/unlocks the door, that is moved by the action of touching down. I could be wrong, but the landing thruster engine is in the centre of the pod, meaning it's pretty difficult for a marine to clamber over it to get out another door.

Well, if you look under p. 69 - TRANSPORT (Space Marine codex):
"once the Drop Pod has landed, the hatches are blown and all passengers must immediately disembark..."
This tells me that they should be open if they're able to when they land (and thus, open-topped as well).
Well spotted, sir.
'Hatches are blown' doesn't say 'put the doors down on the model.' As far as I'm concerned, there are no actual rules to drop pod doors, so you can choose to have them up or down as you see fit. There are no rules for variable models like that, and there is no clear cut rule in the codex, so I wouldn't try to make sense out of one.
My experience is that once that pod drops, then doors (or hatches) open automatically and whatever was inside disembark.
I've seen players glue their drop pods doors (or hatches), but that didn't prevent that fact that you're supposed to see through them.
On the same subject is the fact that the pod storm bolter or missile launcher inside the pod would be blocked if the doors are not all open. This doesn’t make sense for me.
Just because the actual model has something that resemble doors, that doesn’t prevent the fact that they should be all open.
