In the few games I've played so far as Space Wolves, I've found the Rune Priests and Long Fangs to be invaluable. Granted, I haven't tried all of the units in the codex yet....actually, I've only tried a very few of the units so far....but in all the games I've played, the RP's and LF's have more than made up their points twofold. As a matter of fact, my Grey Hunters usually just sit back and finish off the what's left after my RP's and LF's are done with them (or their transports). I can't say enough about how good they have been.
Next time I'll try out TWC's, a couple of other HQ choices (and characters) and probably blood claws in land raiders. That looks positively nasty.
Record: Win - Loss - Draw: Hive Fleet Pandora (New) 32-6-6 Space Wolf 7th Co. 52-11-6
Blood Angels 12-4-2 Daemonhunters 20-8-3
Imperial Guards 12-5-2 Daemons 8-3-2
Whenever i use him, he owns.... and half the time i forget to use his table as well....
I have ran him on his own 2/3 times, and he has been good, 1/2 times with 4 Wolf Guard terminators in a Drop Pod, and a couple of times with 8 Grey Hunters, in a Drop Pod..... Hes very good
So far my battles are won mostly on the efforts of my grey hunters. These guys do alsmot all the work for me so they get my vote.
On the sid ethough THey are always supported by long fangs to deal with the things the greys can't.
for everythign else...theres the rune priest
I got lost on the road of life
Bah... I forgot to add Long Fangs....
My MVPs are my Wolf Guard, my LRR, my LFs, and my Rhinos. The Rhinos and LRR are there because they give me mobility (and the flamers on my LRR don't hurt, especially against jetbike eldar when the fortuned guardians don't get their cover or normal saves ). The wolf guard just tend to eat whatever they can see. My Wolf Lord also tends to kill a fair bit, but characters tend to die a lot for me as I have trouble passing their saves no matter how good they are. My Rune Priest has done ok, but considering that I can never seem to negate psychic power with him... Pretty much the only things of note my RP has done in the couple of games I've taken him is kill Sicarius with a very lucky Jaws, kill a couple of IG vetrans with Murderous Hurricane, and take out a terminator or two in close combat (surviving only because my opponent missed with all of his attacks). My GH tend to bring nerf bats instead of their chainswords and my MotW members tend to forget they have rending. My long fangs tend to do well. Last game they failed me, but IIRC they still made their points. I've only had one game where they weren't useful and thats because I screwed up with my deployment of them on an extremely terrain heavy board with no decent firing positions with dawn of war deployment. Essentially the LF's worst nightmare. Other than that I've had them take out an enemy devastator squad and a razorback one game, in another they killed off Pedro and his sternguard along with a thunderfire cannon and its techmarine, etc.

WL, TWC, RP. I've played mostly against a CSM player, who loves his psychic powers. Having two RPS running around have made dealing with that infinetely easier. Also running my WL on TW in a group of TWC has had amazing results. I've just annihilated, almost any unit that they run into.
For me the rune priest (with or without terminatour armour), grey hunters, wolf guards, thunderwolf cavalry and long fangs have all performed well consider their points.
I've tried out different SC, included Njal. They have done fair, but compared to their high points, they have hardly been MVP. I will not use them in competetive play - just friendly gaming.
In the old codex i had great success with the scouts. Under the new codex i've found them risky since i don't seem to be able to roll 3+. They don't have the same use fotslogging from the shortend.
Least success i have had (maybe not so surprising) with the blood claws.
Rune Priests are the allstars, followed closely by TWC.
I would say a Grey Hunter with Mark of the Wulfen.
I a local tournament held here a couple weeks ago, the primary objective was to have more scoring units in your opponent's deployment zone than he has in yours.
I drop-podded a unit of GH (1 melta, 1 banner, MotW) with a Wolf Priest and WG with PF into his lines. He brought in a wraithlord from reserves charging the unit. The rending claws were the only thing that managed to hurt the wraithlord in my unit as my was widdled away. The wulfen killed the wraithlord on his turn, my turn I got to charge into a unit of guardians and farseer where the wulfen caused the most damage, farseer alone was left and failed leadership at -7 and ran off the board. We tied the primary objective (damn outflanking pathfinders hiding in one of my corners). I ended up winning by secondary and teriary objectives.
I went on to win all 3 rounds and came in second (I have not painted my 5000 pt of SW I built up in just 6 weeks). Money I got, time I have little of, LOL.
