I have a friend who was out of the hobby for 3 years (his roommate stole his Blood Angels), and now he's starting collecting again. I was wondering what insignia belonged to the 2nd company, who led it, etc. I know that the Ultramarines have different colored trim for each company, is this the same for the Blood Angels, and, if so, what color trim is 2nd company's?
I couldn't think of anything funny, smart, or witty to say, so I said this.
The Blood Angels company insignias are detailed on page 26 of the free-to-download codex update. 2nd Company marines are distinguished by the single yellow teardrop on their right shoulder plate. Their left shoulder plate is a black chapter insignia. Officially the shoulder plates are all-red, no trim.
If you want to follow it to the letter, you can paint the helmets of your devastators blue and your assault marines yellow. I don't, because it's lame, and to be honest I made my own paint scheme for my 5th company, as well as my own mix of red because the official one is far too bright for the grim and dark future. I've always felt that colour schemes are a very flexible and personalised aspect of a chapter's fluff anyway.

Come, sons of LO! Kneel before Poodle!
Mr_Wayne: "Some people believe that the World Eaters do not field any ranged weaponry. Those people often die at a distance."
I did a variation of 2nd that uses black trim for pads and left knee pad. Like ze_poodle says it adds a little grimness to them hehe. All red is too bright.
I personally think yellow helmets looks badass for assault squads but I haven't bothered with blue helmets on devastators. Even my mostly blue librarian just looks way out of place amongst a sea of red power armor.
I painted mine up exactly as they were in the 2nd edition codex. I agree that the blue doesn't exactly fit devestators but it always used to help when finding the last squad member hiding in my box. What can I say, I used to be a bit anal about having them fight alongside the people they're used to
