For my Cadia force, I'd like to add as many Cadian characters as possible.
There's no doubt, I'll be adding Creed and Kell together, mostly in lists of 1750+.
Now what about Pask and Bastonne? Are they worth it? If so, how should they be used?
Thanks in advance.
Well, you can actually use any character from the codex that you like, but if you want to use the actual Cadian characters, then heres some stuff on them.
This guy isn't bad. He may be a little pricey when you condiser viability, but the benefits he gives are well worth having. BS4 is good, especially on tanks such as exterminators. The 'crack shot' rule is useful for pretty much any tank. It makes a demolisher insanely powerful, and allows regular LR's to go head to head with land raiders. Of course, if you have a Vanquisher, he is essential.
This chap is a little too expensive. Sure, his orders are good, but if you're taking Creed then you don't really need them. He can make a veteran squad cost well over a tactical squad's cost, and in a straight fight, the marines would most likely win. Veterans are best kept cheap, unless you're taking Harker, who is pretty good.
Of the two, I'd say that Pask was the best. Hope that helps.

I agree with ChadMS on his assesment for the most part.
The only one I would ever use is Pask, and only on an Exterminator. Even for a Punisher it probably isn't worth the points, especially as a Punisher is always moving. I personally wouldn't take a Vanquisher.
I think Creed could be worth it if you have a lot of troops. His 24" range, special orders and Scout unit are worthwhile if you have a lot of troops. I don't think Kell is worth it though, not for the points. Take his amount of points and put it into more troops or better heavy/special weapons.

I use pask in most games I play, he rides in a demolisher with a lascannon and multi melta sponsons and he is effective, maybe not worth the points but whatever he wants dead dies. besides he is a huge target. With that demolisher in your force your opponent will likely ignore the rest of your tanks so throw it behind cover, if you can get camo netting and a DH inquis w/ mystics it's even better because they have to approach it and DSing becomes very hazardous indeed.

Pask is great in any Russ whose turret weapon isn't a blast template. I enjoy running him in an Exterminator. The pairing is death to skimmers and transports even if he is forced to move, and in the late game he excels at finishing off units that my ordnance have reduced to one or two models. Those pesky remnant squads have cost me way too many objectives over past months and using Pask-LRX to overkill them feels so good it should be illegal. Too bad I have to choose between him and my Colossus; my army doesn't leave its box without two pairs of Russes.
Bastonne failed me. I thought a Bastonne squad with outflanking (from Creed) would be a powerful backfield force but finally abandoned the idea after several efforts. He's too easily bogged down in close combat, or too outmatched, or needs too much equipment, or just enters on the wrong side. I suppose you could give his squad three plasma guns and a ride and have them be a scoring CCS-type squad, since he can give himself orders while inside a Chimera, but a real CCS would be cheaper and more effective.
Creed's my man. He plays in every game. I can't imagine how any Guardsman with a non-mechanized army could get by without him...Straken, I guess, but Creed's bayonet charge order is far superior in my opinion. As for Kell, I never bother. A vox net, regimental standard and a Chimera for a bunker is sufficient.

I'm going to disagree with most statements made so far, I really like kell, far more than creed.
It's his ability to use the officers ld on heavy weapons teams for orders that makes me sweat.
To be quite honest though, the only named character i use in the ig codex is sly marbo. occassionally stracken, harker or kell, but I like to keep my hoard army a hoard, and don't think they're worth it.
Pask: really, no. Tanks are so very expensive as it is. Put him in a exterminator (triple hb and stubber), or vanquisher (hull las) if you must.
Bastonne : a very expensive S3 powersword. I'd rather take a P.Fist and keep the points.
Creed: The very best in order giving, and a hilarious special rule (outflanking hellhounds/demolisher/51 man combined squad w. commisar)
Kell: a extra power fist and good for orders. the rest of the junk on him can be usefull too.
