Hello, I am currently building an iron hands army (with some personal fluff) and was wondering if it would be legal to use the models for techmarines as terminator? I have the both techmarines (one from thunderfire and w/servitors) and they seem to have the bulk to pull it off. How ever the older style looks like he has standard power armour. Would either of these options work? If so could their axes be considered thunder hammers? I am looking at using dark elf iron claw shields as their storm shield.
What would I have to have on the techmarines to meet wysiwyg?
rear and front torso?
different shoulder pads?
What if i like the techmarine gear shoulder pad?
terminator honors? (wouldn't that be enough?)
All ideas and opinions appreciated.
And always remember the first rule of Warhammer...
(And it has nothing to do with "not talking about Warhammer.")
I would play against it as long as it had roughly the same mass as a terminator - I would give it bonus points if it had Termie honors on it somewhere, as well as the AdMech pad (and a chapter symbol somewhere... yikes that's complicated given the Techmarines!). There had been so many different types of Termie armor that has come out that I would accept it as long as the shoulders are approximately the size of the torso, he is sporting weapons that are or are similar to the ones that he has in the game mechanics, and it looks like you put in effort.
Now that is all well and good, but are you playing against me? Probably not. I would sound out your local gamers and see what they would play against, and then check back with us to see if they are being reasonable.
Terminator armor going critical would be like Three Mile Island only very, VERY angry, and carrying a hammer.
LO rules in a nutshell: Don't post unit costs, be polite, rep posts containing of win.
As long as you clearly put some decent conversion work on them and they were roughly WYSIWYG you could use them as "Counts As" termies as far as i'm concerned.
Nevermore Chapter: 6200 pts; 97/49/11; Longest Streak: 9 Wins/4 Losses; Nearing Completion
WYSIWYG and 40mm bases are pretty much the only requirement for playing against me. Otherwise the term honors and shoulder pad mentioned earlier in the thread would be good too.
Termy Honours would be a vgood point. If you kidna, bulked out their axe somehow, made it look more soild then it should look enough like a hammer.
As long as they had the right size base and you didn't have any other Techmarines to confuse them with, it sounds good.

I agree completely with ==me==
I'd say the acid test is squint: if they look more like Terminators than Techmarines it'll be fine. As long as they don't just look like Techmarines I can't imagine most people will care.
