I've just purchased the 5 man SW terminator squad to paint. I'm not a SW player, but I do have the codex for reference purposes. Before I commence building and painting these rather fantastic models I wanted to know which weapon configs are the most favourable.
As it stands I'll be doing one with the assault cannon (be rude not too) but that's about it.
If you had them what would you do? (obviously codex legal)
Thanks in advance. ;-)
The box contains a lot of parts to let you build several different configurations, but I was a little disappointed when I open my box and found that there was only one power weapon and no cyclone missile launcher.
Back to the builds, the most common SW terminator build is storm bolter and power weapon, but you can only build one with the contents of the box. I also built one storm shield/thunder hammer and one storm bolter/chainfist.
For collecting and painting purposes, my suggestion would be: (all codex legal):
+ Thunder hammer/Storm Shield
+ Twin Wolf Claws
+ Storm Bolter/Chainfist
+ Storm Bolter/Frost weapon (sword or axe)
+ Assault Cannon/Storm Shield or any other power weapon (Wolf Claw, Thunder Hammer, Frost Axe, etc.)
cowboy is bang on with the configs, i've just sliced and diced mine ready for assembly and am now furious i have to revise for exams.... anyway cyclone ml, wack em as a WG in a long fang squad leader... brilliant but that won't really be of any use to vinilla however any other uses seem redundant as arguably the SW termies are primariy for assult/midrange. the problems arise becasue all of the uber options REALLY hurt you in points
anyway all the best

You can't go wrong with twin wolf claws or storm bolter power weapon.
I'd go with the cyclone missile launcher over the assault cannon due to the fact that 2 krak missile shots with longer range is better at taking out enemy transports than the nerfed assault cannon.
Record: Win - Loss - Draw: Hive Fleet Pandora (New) 32-6-6 Space Wolf 7th Co. 52-11-6
Blood Angels 12-4-2 Daemonhunters 20-8-3
Imperial Guards 12-5-2 Daemons 8-3-2
Thanks for you thoughts jy2. I can see both sides of the heavy armament argument. To add to the confusion I really rate heavy flamers as they cause so many wounds when close enough and, SW works best close.
As it stands I have only decided the following so far.....
All will be based to look more heroic.
Termie 1. TH/SS in keeping with Arjac in look so he could be used as him if wanted.
Termie 2. Twin Wolf Claws
Termie 3. Storm Bolter, Chainfist
termie 1 th/ss
termie 2 twin wolf claws
Termie 3 cyclone, chainfist, storm bolter
termie 4 pw/sb
termie 5 pw/sb
Nice and cheep+good at everything
I've taken a liking to Wolf Claw / Storm Shield, for the ever-so-unique combination of I4 Power Weapon & 2+/3++ saves. Expensive, yes, but in an army that can fit 60 Grey Hunters in a 1,000 point list, it doesn't seem like much concern to spend a little extra now and then.
If you intend to showcase the models, stick with picking one configuration.. but if you intend to play with them or sell them, I strongly encourage you to pin the arms on rather than gluing them. A little bit of extra painting involved, but well worth it for the added flexibility ^_^
I've recently become a fan of this thing called Dubstep. And you should too.
