It is my understanding that an entire unit or squadron has to be destroyed in order to be counted as a kill point. So if you know that you will be playing an annihilation game is it a good idea to take as few kill points as possible without sacrificeing the ability to rack up the KP yourself? As an example running a squadron of 3 LRBTs (1 kill point) instead of taking 3 LRBTs in there own FOC slots (3 Kill points).
Couple problems with that.
Most importantly, your squadron is forced to all fire at the same target, AND move together, which really limits what you can do.
Secondly, and most importantly: An immobilized result wrecks a Russ. A Glancing hit of 6 will kill it. That's just....unacceptable.
Some vehicles are fine to squadron up, but Russes aren't one of them.

Russ' were just an example. You can use Hellhounds, Ord batteries, or Sentinels...
Honestly, if you're only squadroning up a squadron because you want to avoid extra KPs, it's not a great reason to do so.
Out of the two armies I own (IG and Eldar), there is only one vehicle I will deploy in a squadron. War Walkers.
Sentinels, maybe. Vypers, if, and this is a big if, I run them.
Otherwise its almost always better to leave 'em seperate. Hellhounds, maybe. Because of squadron flamer rules, you'd be putting down a serious number of wounds, but even then....I'm not really sure.
As the only vehicle-heavy army I play is IG, I would only squadron the following:
1) Hydras. Generally 1 or 2 is enough to do the job and they are dirt-cheap so losing one to an immobilized result isn't overly bad.
2) Sentinels. Personally I only field 1-2 and I only squadron if I take Vendettas so I can clear up more FA slots.
3) Vendettas or Valkyries but only in an Air Cav list. But I don't play air cav so no idea on the effectiveness.
4) Maybe pairing a Griffon with a Collussus or a pair of Griffons?
