Anyone here have an idea how to build your own Griffon?
i have had many ideas myself but they did not turn out good.
Wait around a bit before jumping in there. I heard something about new chimera and basalisk kits being released this Spring, so hold your horses!

I think the new Bassie kit will let you do Bassie, Griffon, Collosus, etc, which will be great.

I've built one that I think works pretty well, and can be used as a chimera as well. Just don't glue the top half of the chimera chassis down, and you'll have a bay that can be used as a gun piut. I used a tank wheel thing and some parts of a dozer blade and some plasticard to make the gun itself, it's pretty stubby but it looks like a huge mortar. I used the internal parts of a rhino to add some details to the forward wall and used some shells from a bane blade and some cadians to crew it and add details.
I needed to add a blast shield to the front to conceal the gap since it's not glued down, I used some extra plates from a baneblade but you can just use plasticards.
If I can get ahold of a camera I'll post pictures.

Killed 900 pts worth of Blood Angels in 2 turns while only loosing 4 pts.
That's a mean looking gun up there, hate to be on the receiving end of that!
I had the same problem, since my army was to be mainly light armour I really liked the Griffon but with no remaining minitures I almost gave up. However after searching around on the net I found a guy who had converted basiliks (by lowering the platform, cutting down the main gun etc) which seemed very reasonable.
If only I could find that site again....
if you could find it that would be awsome!
I made my griffon from a basalisk and a DKoK heavy mortar. My son broke the gun off my bassie, so I just took the wheels off the heavy mortar and stuck it on the gun platform instead of the earthshaker cannon. Looks great and was easy. All you need is superglue to attach the mortar!
Seriously, I rejoice when I get a good excuse to buy some FW kit. "Honey, it's in my codex, but GW doesn't sell the model. It's not that much more expensive...."
