Tanks, the engines of war. Fearsome behemoths, monsters of steel and adamite. Mobile weapon platforms able to reduce entire section of the battlefield to waste with a single volley. While infantry are mowed down by small-arms fire, vehicles spearhead attacks, break through enemy formations, and deal decisive blows with either their weaponry, their living cargo, or both and dictate the course of battle and war. Break them, and you have broken the enemy's will. The Adeptus Astartes is well equipped and trained to deal with the enemy's warmachines, seeking out armor and destroying these priority threats.
One of fifth edition metagame's pillars is mechanization. Infantry units tend to come with vehicle transports and tanks and/or skimmers of all kinds dominate the battlefields. A competitive force is required to be well prepared for this and feature the means of destroying vehicles. Codex: Space Marines provides many possibilities to go about this.
Melta weapons are the kings of anti-tank gunfire, but their effective range is low. Other weapons come with longer range but also often with the crux of being stationary. Attack bikes and land speeders with multi-meltas are fast and dangerous, but low-ranged and fragile. Missile launchers are cheap and long-ranged, but often stationary and not as powerful. Lascannons, autocannons, even assault cannons or krak grenades can be effective at stopping enemy vehicles, especially the often only weakly armored transports.
What units cover the need for anti-tank weaponry in your lists? How do you employ them? What targets do you use them against? Discuss.
I usally run one predator with main gun lascannons, side sponser lascannons and sergent chronos 210 pts but itll kill a tank every turn.

Multi-meltas. Full stop. Put 'em in tac squads, put 'em on speeders, put 'em on dreads. That and a couple of dakkapreds to pop smaller stuff like transports that make it through the lines.
Drop Pod a stock Dread (M. Melta DCCW/ hvy. Flamer*) behind the largest vehicle threat. On a hit, nearly guaranteed penetrating hit, reliable vehicle neutralized, Turn 1.
M.Melta / Cyclone Missile Launcher Speeders, also very handy for Turns 2 - 5 vehicle destruction, with very high maneuverability can get into side or rear armor more easily.
Light vehicles/transports - assault cannons (usually on Terminators, or Dreads), autocannons (on dreads) or missile launchers (tactical squad or dreads)
Heavy vehicles - multimelta (attack bikes, land speeders or DP dreads)
Rarely do I bother with CCing vehicles, as I've usually got better targets in mind (such as the unit inside the transport).
I usually use podding sternguard with combi meltas, missile launchers in scout and tac squads, and Typhoon land speeders.
IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT!
I survived LO Chat thanks to: Karmoon, Rabbit, Process, Tossy and Meish.
Right now I use speeders with asscans, Razorbacks with tllc, and in my squads I stick a pf and melta gun in each one to combat heavy tank and vehicle units. I also have my six man squad in the razorback with a missle launcher and another heavy weap to park and shoot tanks and vehicles. When I get the money I want to get a dreddy with possibly mm and possibly a predator. Thats about my extent of my BT army's anti-tank.
I usually prefere attack bikes and LS with MM in vanilla marine armies.
With the SW:
- the LF with all out ML is great against anything else than AV14. When it comes to AV it's usually one of two; the monolith which i usually ignore and go for phase out, and the LR which i try to stall with Melta on LS.
- i usually field a RP with LL, which is great against transports.
I'm loving this thread, I'm really torn on what do with with what I have. Thanks! 2 Multi Melta drop dreads are what i'm thinking, autocannon/missile dread too all in drop pods (autocannon one will reserve and drop empty). This allows me 1st turn to drop 2 MM dreads. I also have 2 missile launcher combat squadded guys, where the remaining are in 2 razorbacks with possible las upgrade if I need it.

I am one of the few people who don't like using lascannons for tank hunting...obliterators, MC's, meganobz and characters are much more fun for them. Of course if nothing like this presents itself ill shoot the odd rhino or two with my land raider
Personally i use drop podding dreads with MM, and bike squads full of melta/multimelta/powerfisty goodness. I usually slap a meltagun in each tactical squad too (all these meltas are remnants of my vulcan hestan obsession).
I do enjoy using Lysander too, as he's the only thing in the marine army that can reliably pimp-slap a monolith
