    Purigation squad

So i heard that you could take a witch hunter rhino and put GKs in it from another fourm in LO i was wondering if a squad of 4 incinerators and a sergent would be a good squad worth fielding? It cost 210 pts plus the rhino.

You would have to take the whole squad from WH (IE ISTs or SoB, the former being the cheaper). I find that 4 flamers just get in each others way as it's hard to not hit each other. Overall though, I think it might be better if you just went with PAGKs because they're troops. If the purges had some other form of weapon, maybe, but since normal PAGKs can already get what purges can, it's generally better just to stick with them.

Yeah, I'd agree with ikbuh, that many would probably just get in each others way. Two is enough, and then you can slip them in a troops spot. Also sergeants normally aren't worth taking unless you need to give them specific wargear.

Nope. Depends on the type of the unit. GK and GKT always need to have a justicar and BC/GM, but not all units do. Notice in the "number/squad" section of their codex entry it'll say something like "1 justicar and 2-9 GK." For the ISTs though the veteran is an upgrade, there is no compulsory option, and note that it costs extra points to upgrade too (won't say how much for copyright reasons, but check your codex). The upgrade is probably not worth the points cost, if you ever get caught in combat you are pretty stuffed anyway and one extra attack won't change that, though if you felt really compelled you could splurge out on a power sword or something else special. Otherwise they're only good for things like tele homers etc. Just my humble opinion though

oh, i see where your getting at when you say " sergent" and four flamers.. basically four incinerators and a justicar in a rino, right? move the rino up in one turn hopefully being able to unload them and take a bunch of flamer shots. yeah in theory it works, you simply place each flamer and count the hits before rolling to maximize the number of hits you get. nice idea considering you could get like what, almost thirty hits considering each templet can cover eight models? However, thats theory, and sadly if the templet covers part of the unit thats shooting it then it cant fire... so, unless they all have clear shots you may only get like the front two flamers to fire, which wouldnt be worth 210 points- two flamer shots. if you are really die hard on this idea though use the WH dominator squad. they can get five flamers- four squad upgrade and the sergent can buy a flamer from the wargear, and with there one faith point it could make some of those hits ap 1. also it turns out to be cheaper.

    Ahhhhhhh, gotcha!

Somehow I thought you were talking about having an incinerator GK squad riding in the ISTs rhino and giving the IST a sergeant. My bad. Then yes, definitely give the squad a compulsory justicar haha.

But yeah, 2 incinerators is plenty.

I was pretty sure theres a line somewhere that said you dont hit members in your squad or something of the sort. will have to look that up later
I'm not here for the respect, just here to spread the clarity of a very complicated game

Members of the same unit don't count for blocking LoS to each other (the Justiciar doesn't give the Orks cover from the Grey Knight's Storm Bolter), however if it is Template weapon's that you're talking about then you need to place them so that you don't hit members of your squad.
