I am looking to start an inqusition army and have decided to do Witch Hunters with Daemonhunters allies.
I am wondering what people think of using space marine models as sisters of battle. I realy only play with my friend and he doesnt mind but i was wondering how others would react to this. Should i make them look more like 'normal' people?? say use imperial guard heads on them or something to show that they have reduced toughness and strangth?? maybe use different arms too?? what do you guys think??
Please go easy on me im new to this forum so if its a silly question then im sorry
Welcome to Librarium Online I think you are lucky to have a good friend like that who will let you proxy models. Funnily enough, when I first started playing 40K years ago, one of my friends declared his chapter was all female (The Pink Panzers) and he used regular space marines mostly. There were one or two power armor female models back then, but there was no GW USA back then, and they were very expensive to order from the U.K.. Anyways, we were all anime and manga fans and liked the idea of girls in power armor, so we all went along with it. When you have friends like yours and mine, you are blessed indeed! So you go for it, and enjoy your games! A lot of people don't like the corset look for the Sisters anyway and would prefer plain power armor anyway.
Emperor bless and cherish you!
Thanks for the kind welcome Frankie
My friend and i use proxy models all the time as it allows us to be flexible and most of all enjoy the game by testing out different units...(as long as you dont forget that that squad of imperial guard is actually a squad of space marines )
Any suggestions on how i could represent the lower toughness and strength? I have thought of using imperial guard heads or scout heads but im not sure how they will fit with the torso.
Also does anyone know how GW would take this?? Im assuming they wont be too happy with allowing me to play in their stores while not using the real models

I have had to do similar things with my army. I actually use Sororitas models for some of my retinue for my WH IL and they have carapace armor basically. A way I chose to represent this was just in the painting scheme. I painted flesh on the thighs to show that they are not encased in power armor but rather just wearing armor better than a cloth shirt and flak vest. Alot can be accomplished purely on how you paint something. using an unhelmeted head is another good idea, like you suggested. Mainly just experiment with different things until you find something that you like.
Suffer not the heretic. That's right, I'm looking at you Astartes Librarians.
I think i might take your advice Lord Scave and try to paint them to show the differences from the marines. Im already for my inqusitional stormtroopers to add an extra barrel onto the lasguns to represent the hellgun and am looking into some enclosed helmet heads to represent the better armour save, i have been thinking of the Elyssian Drop Trooper heads from forgeworld, any other suggestions? I also thought i could use these heads on my marine torsos
Hi There Yoshi and Scave!
I think Scave is right, you can do a lot with paint. I think I'd go for a camouflaged look. I haven't seen Space Marines in camo for a long time and wonder if anyone does that anymore. Forge world makes nice stuff, but you might also consider a bitz service like at "The War Store", and buy some fantasy heads, and maybe some arm sprues to give some of your troops bare arms if you like.
I'm fairly sure GW stores will tend to not accept proxy models if there are official models available for the troop type, but it never hurts to ask
Have a great weekend you two, get some fun games in if you can
From what I've heard you just use them as 'counts as' and as long as they represent weapons/upgrade wise what you are counting them as you shouldn't have any issues if they are a GWS product. In official GWS tournies apparently they don't accept other brands of models. But any other time should be fine.
I'd say go for it. No reason all SoB power armor has to be petite. Especially for a DiY order...I'd look at some female looking heads, even from a different manufacturer, to mount on the space marine torsos...that should be WYSIWYG enough for anyone!
