OK, so Games Workshop are bringing out a new plastic Venerable Dreadnought. It will cost £25, which is £10(?) less for lots more options.
Will you be getting one? I probably will (when I get enough money), and put an Assault Cannon on it. Hitting on a 2+ ain't bad, and with S6 as well, which will rip through 'Ard Boyz, Genestealers, Ogryn and some HQ. He ain't bad in CC either. Hits normal Marines, Orks and Aspect Warriors on 3+.
So are you enticed by the new model? Are you going to buy one?
Space Marines: 4,000pts - 7/7/2
Imperial Guard: Under Construction...
Aesthetically, I was kind of disappointed. The cool "cathedral" looking decor on the old metal models is gone and they replaced it with... flat slabs with text on it. They seem less ornate, but I need to see the actual sprues to make final judgment. But for now its a...meh.
Now, that being said, I'm sure the plastic sprues allow for MUCH more customization options and plastic is always easier to model.
So it gets an A for options and a D for visuals.... Hopefully the new Blood Angels dreads (librarian, new furioso, etc) will be a bit more ornate...
I love the new one, plastic = awesome and personally the gothic look of the last one was terrible IMO. But i'm not into that particular look I suppose. In any case I far prefer the new look, and the fact that its so modular is fantastic.
Nevermore Chapter: 6200 pts; 97/49/11; Longest Streak: 9 Wins/4 Losses; Nearing Completion
To be honest no i do not like the model as compared to the old one, but yes I will still be getting it. I am known as some what of a dread head and now I just wouldn't be able to call myself that without it
Ask me about the Black and White Space Marine on the Black and White Bike!!!
I don't know. I love how much more cutomisable it'll be with the new plastic options, but it's a bit pricey on GW, $43. Is that worth it do you think? Or is there another place to pick it up in the US? There's always waiting for ebay I guess.
I will definitely get one!! I love all the bitz options, so I can jazz up some other dreads to make them look venerable too. One thing I don't get is why have a big space marine helmet on the dread? The space marine inside does not have a head that is three times larger than before he was gifted with the dreadnought encasement, does he???
Once a Marine, always a Marine.
It has both the fancy writing armor as well as the cathedral armor options on it. Also has the crazy 4 TL Bolter weapon from the ironclad as an option.
