Not that I was going to do these for ages yet, by which time GW or FW may be producing a fig but what are people using now?
Most people I know employ Necromunda gangs as penal troops and some of hose have pistols so look overseerish in principle, but what about psykers with their ultimate sanction? Commissar seem a reasonable choice but that would be confusing unless you did something odd like painted them something other than black?
Has anyone ever brought a Forge World Tallarn Sentinel? I am confussed by the fact it is cheeper than the plastic kit @£15 but they advertise it as a complete model?
I would use catchans painted orange for penal troops, especially since my main troops are cadian.
There are many old psyker models on the GW website and on ebay, id just get a nice looking one of them and give it a distinctive colour scheme.
I've used these guys. Of course you'd have to raid your bits box of laspistols, but I find that they look good. The overseer is just a mix of bits from the Baneblade commander and normal cadian bits. I'll see if i can get any pictures, if you're interested...
I too used flagellants for psykers, adding the spare tank icons, glued back to back and stuck on top of the staffs.
For the Overseer i used the forge world event only reaver titan princeps, but that's as i was itching to get him on a table.
For my penal troops i used cadians, with bayonet lasguns, and approx 2 other knives on all others.
I made them more distinctive by adding only shaved heads - there's a scarred head on the cadian command sprue, some on the flagellants (missing teeth) and i shaved/filed the mohicans off the cadian command, catchan command, and some odd catchan heads and some from the heads bits pack until i had 9, then for the sgnt i added the catchan with "baseball cap" from the catchan command, although there's also a good one in the metal head bits pack too (earmarked for squad 2)

I did this, too, and they look just fine...enough so that I have also added 'Green Squad' to my lineup. Easy paint job--just a basecoat and a wash, really, and their clothes really do look like prison jumpsuits. Catachan arms are big enough to add tattoos, too, for those so inclined.Originally Posted by sonoftheemperor

With the Sentinel, yes it is a complete kit, it's just the plastic one with a few resin extras. I would imagine they will probably not include the entire kit with all the extra bits to make it a steel legion or cadian etc but I could be wrong. The resin parts appear to be just the pilot and canvas roof. It is cheaper than the other kits (15 vs 20£) but it doesn't use as many resin parts so yeah a nice deal if you collect Tallarns
I really like the idea of guys in orange jumpsuits. Does anyone have pics?
Overseers: I was thinking about using a Commisar model for my Psyker Overseer. Who better to put a bullet in their skulls? If not the Necromunda Redemptionist models are pretty sweet looking.
