When running a bike squad, how do you usually equip them?
Vampire Counts-4000 Points
Black Templars-2000 Points
5 Bikers, Powerfist, 2 Meltaguns, and an attack bike with a multimelta. I use them to code the enemy tanks early and fast, and rely on the support units for anti-transport and extra anti infantry. (though twinlinked bolters aren't exactly bad at anti-horde)
Excerpt from the soon-to-be-finished Tactica: Space Marine Bike Armies. [I couldn't finish it because I currently leave the house for work at 6 a.m. and don't return before 8 p.m. - exhausted and scavenging for dinner. Wait for the weekend, or maybe two or three weekends (yes, girlfriend, friends, and familiy want to spend some time with Red too) and it will be available on LO.]
Sorry if the excerpt has any referrals that don't make sense without the rest of the tactica. Don't worry about that, be patient.Originally Posted by Red Archer, Tactica: Space Marine Bike Armies
As I usually run my bike squads as part of a bike army, all my bike squads are tailored (hopefully) to work together. Normally I would consider taking two melta squads (3 bikes, additional bike, 2 meltaguns, attack bike w/MM) and a plasma squad as Red Archer described above. However, if you are considering running a bike squad in addition to an army that doesn't use them as troops choices, perhaps a melta suicide squad would be best. or 2 MM attack bikes. (Red Archer's advice and others are probably the most useful for bike armies though, not mine)

Space Marines are like gravity. It's not just a good idea. It's the Law.
Pretty much always 4 bikes, 2 meltas, combi-flamer, melta bombs and MM Attack Bike. They're cheap, mobile, and deadly against just about everything. I leave off the powerfist since Bikes suck in combat and have the mobility to avoid it, but the combi-flamer is there just in case things get too close for comfort (I only get 1 shot with the combi, but that's usually all you're going to need/get).
If it's an escort for a MotF sporting a conversion beamer, I might pick up plasma for the extra reach.

I like using the full 8 models + attack bike, with powerfist, combi-flamer, 2 meltaguns, and attack bike with multi-melta. It's a great versatile unit, and I can split it into two units, one with all the meltas, and the other with the powerfist and combi-flamer. If I'm playing with a captain on a bike, I usually put him with the fist/flamer half.
