So I flipped through the new codex today and was wondering what other more experienced people than me thought?
My initial thoughts are that the codex seems to continue the new trend of expensive special characters and extra ways to take other regular characters. Multiple squads of Death Company up to 30 strong seem pretty cool, and the wide variety of dreads as well. Really not sure yet which way I would go with them, there seems to be a lot of options and potentially effective combinations to choose from.
Well, I've only heard rumors. So no pt costs. But overall, it sounds a little broken. I particularly think it's weird that blood angels kinda seem like the dreadnaught srmy now, or at least the army to play if you wanted lots of dreadnaughts. I know they had furiosos before, but that was just a CC dread as seen through the blood angels lens, they weren't a particularly dread heavy army. Doesn't feel right along side the rest of their fast attack theme. I think things like a 30 man death company are fine, as long as they are non-scoring. Librarian dreads seem fine to me too, but why can't regular marines have them?
Because someone has to have them first.
Let me save you some time. Here is the bell of lost souls links to two articles they have on the new blood angels. Mephiston is even more ungodly than he was before. He is a monstrous creature unto himself with the stats like one. They for the most part do not look too unbalanced. Just different. And all of their amazing characters everyone is talking about are quite expensive.

Oh and the models are beautiful. The sanguinary guard especially.

Yeah, I dunno. Not a total fan of the new stuff. 30-man squads? When are we, the 30th Millennium and we're still organized into Legions? I'm also against the idea of lots of dreads. Specialized CC dreads that maybe fleet? Surely! But as troops, in waves? Nahhh. Also agree this is just more Hero-hammer where some people will be playing "my HQ can whoop your HQ in one-v-one". I will actually miss my Dante being an AoE bubble of awesome. Now it's random and I know with my rolling my tacticals will be getting FC and my Assaulters will be calm and cool. Boooo!
That's just my focus on the bad. Other than that, the new models are a welcome, I think adding Fast to vehicles will be better than the OCE rule. New Baal Pred is kick ass. So, basically lots of rethinking will need to be done here. I just know I'll be getting my hands on a 'dex ASAP so I can start play testing and know which Doom and Gloom predictions are true or false.

Blood Angels - 1500pt (WIP) [6W/2L/2D]
Uh, yeah, that's where I've been reading the rumors.
I repeat, they seem unbalanced, and making them the place to go for dreadnaughts is a little dumb.
Yeah. It doesn't seem like a normal fit but games workshop does not like the iron hands so they have to go somewhere. Oh and blood claws are going to eat so much ork and nid.
aren't blood claws space wolves?

do we actually get ANY eternal warriors?
Never judge someone until you've walked a mile in their shoes...by that time they'll be a mile away, and have no shoes
Looks like another solid 5th ed Codex, giving the BA their own niche but not restricting them to just 1 build. I see lots of variety here.
Dreads as Troops sounds neat, but remember that they don't score and cost points. Same for the DC.
I'm a big fan of the improved Baal Preds (I hope normal Preds can be Heavy, w00t for 6 Pred army!), Librarian Dreads (flying psychic death machines!), Magna Grapples (GET OVER HERE!!), and the Stormraven (bummed there's no model). I don't own any jump packs so I'll end up testing out mech BA and see how it works out.
