not sure if anyone has asked this before but i've always wondered why other people played daemonhunters. I for one chose it lured to the idea of playing the one of the imperiums most powerful factions backed by the super elite space marine grey knights. I can't say i'm too disappointed although i guess i should have expected to be outgunned and outmanned.
The reasons why I joined the Grey Knights are many, but you list a great many (3) of those reasons - they look awesome, I like a good challenge and who wouldn't want all the forces of the Imperium at their disposal?
"Lo, though the time is dark, my faith shines."
None of the above really. I just loved the fluff that they are the purest of pure, and the only army where not a single marine has diverted to chaos.
So, not fitting into any of the categories, I went with the look of the models
Reasons i joined 1. i have never played a melee based army 2. They have the best models (terminators) GW has ever produced 3. NEMISIS FORCE WEAPON FTW! 4. They are harder to play require more tactics than other armies. 5. i wanted to paint an army just like the codex shows and they have the best paint scheme.
Space marines 6 dread army Wins: 4 ties:2 Loses:7 Modified Standard nilla marines Wins:37 Ties:8 Loses 42 Daemonhunters Wins:3 Ties:0 Loses:1 Full assualt concept army wins: 6 Ties: none Loses: 2
Because after playing Mech Eldar for so long people said I should change the pace and play something else. What's better than an army that people think they can stomp easy because of an "old" codex and than you crush them ^_^
5th E Sand(Grey) Knights: 11-3 (retired) 5th E Eldar: 37-4 (retired) 5th E Wolves 5-0
to be honest, the only reason I started playing was because my friend was getting out of it and had a bunch of grey knights. got them for free, and I couldn't be happier with the action ive gotten from them.
Eldar W/D/L: 17/15/12
Ordo Malleus W/D/L: 24/3/4
Crimson Fists: In Progress
The models are pretty.
No kidding at all, a box of Grey Knight Termies at a comic book store was the single thing that got me started on 40K in the first place. Never heard of Warhammer or GW, but the models were shiny... And the rest is history.
my friend just started choas SM 3rd edition and when i was looking for the army to start with my other friend was trying to get me to start IG or Tau... then i was this guy with this narly looking hammer and asked, " what do these guys do?" He said ," oh, the hunt adam's army!" it was all i needed to hear. Once i bought the codex and we saw S 6 troop choices it only got better!
