Hi, me and my friends have been playing some one off doubles games. We are just getting back into playing the game and we keep the points to 1K each with no special characters. The first game was me and my friends Space Marines against Orks and Chaos Marines. The next game is me and Orks against Chaos Marines and the Space Marines.
My question is should I go for a tank heavy list or more troops with one or two tanks. I can field enough tanks to have every troops choice in a Chimera and I have 3 Leman Russ tanks and a Vendetta. I know my friend has 2 dreadnoughts, one venerable and one ironclad. He will also have some terminators and the captain that lets him have bikes as troops.
What do people think?
Against MEQ, I'd go with tanks out the wahooie. As an SM player I really don't care about your guys armed with flashlights, they'll kill sod all and get mashed when I so much as fart in their direction.
Tanks cause more of a problem, as they require specialist weaponry.
Plenty of tanks, with mechanised infantry would be best. Especially against a biker army. You wound them on 6s with lasguns, and they can be all over you very quickly.
I am most deeply affronted sir! How dare you be so blantently dismissive of the humble guardsmen? Who says that noraml guardsmen cannot kill space marines? I demand an apology, or else sir, I shall indeed throw down the gauntlet!

Ah, to be honest, a balanced list would do you best.
But if you're against that, like mentioned: Russes. Either regular LRBT, or Demolisher. Either one will do you fine.
Give your boys some Plasma Rifles, rely on vets, and Marines will die just like the rest.
Yep. You should work on a balanced all-comers list that can handle both Orks and Marines.
