so guys whta do you think about this guys, i love them cus there 3+ inv save and save deep strike they have been my winning shot four 5 games now
ye how do you run them and why dont run them( never see them in the list here)
I don't use 'em because they cost too much, don't put out sufficient firepower, and a 3++ just means they die like normal marines to basic weaponry. That and I like Dreads/Termies/Sternguard more.
Check out ==My== blog: www.bnhblog.blogspot.com
ye 30 pts a a bit costy put moving and fire heavy weapons one great thing ye the termis can do that to but i cant find eny love in the termis but one thing i can say sternguards hard to find more powa in on 10 man squad
They're a wonderfully characterful unit with some of the best miniatures GW has ever produced, but their actual battlefield capabilities don't live up to either their background or their points cost.
They can deepstrike, and they get a save against AP3+ weapons... And that's it. There's nothing they can do that can't be done by a Tactical squad in a Drop Pod, and you can take along almost 2 of the Tactical squads for the same price!
Heck, while we're at it, I'll just bring along a squad of Grey Knights - better guns, much better in a fight, more (arguably better) abilities, and still almost 60 points cheaper!
What LotD can do tactical marines can do at least as well, more survivably, and while capturing objectives.
Anti tank DSing
10 Tactical marines meltagun multi melta sarg combi melta drop pod
5 LotD combi melta 1 meltagun 1 multi melta
The tactial marines cost 5pts more.
The tacticals have better DS
The tacticals have the option of DSing
The tacticals can capture objectives
The tacticals can take more damage, even combat squadding if neceessary
The tacticals are more flexible
The tacticals have combat tactics
The tacticals are faster
The legion have an extra melta shot on the turn they land
The legion can assault afer rapid firing
You can do this same thing with plasma weapons, flame weapons, the sergeants even have all the same options. The thing is the LotD aren't that great. And I didn't even bring up the squad that can put them to shame time and time again, sternguard. Anti tank you got 5 combi meltas, drop pod 185pts, thats 30 less than the legionaires mentioned above, hell go 6 guys with combi melltas and they cos as much as the legion. Which is better? Sure the legion survive better but the sternguard are a much better all around unit.

LoTD - such a great idea, gone so horribly wrong rule-wise.... Kudos for GW for suckering me into buying a box of 5 though!
Yea, its unfortunate how nice the models look, with such an interesting (sort of) and badass backround. Unfortunetly it doesent translate onto the table well for me. Almost no one is gonna tell you they also love to feild the LotD, but if you like em and they perform well enough for you, go for it. for me at least, they dont perform up to their points cost, and i also am a bit OCD about a unified army look and they dont really fit in . sure im weird, but i digress
LoTD models + Sterguard rules seem that much better....
I love the way they look, but on the table top they just don't do very well at all...which is saddening
Sternguard are way better for their points
@OP learn to spell some please?
I serve my master and do as he wants. He wants the badlands, thus they will be his.

They need to make a 3+ save wayyy cheaper because assualt terminators can have a 3+ and have a reg 2+ also str 8 weapons wayy better than a 3+ with normal weapons imo. good concept wayyy to heavy point cost and i dont think they should be elite.
