~So, with my new Blood Angels book laying in my lap, collecting a small puddle of drool, I have now thought to myself, how am I going to craft some of these handsome little fellas?
-First off, the Blood Talons. I very much like the Talons on the Death Company Dread picture, but I don't know how they did them. And boy will I need them.
-How are people going to be making their Magna Grapples? I've thought a few things through, such as getting a missile launcher and putting a small three-pronged fishing hook in it to show it.
-The Frag Cannons! I haven't thought much on these yet, but I'm sure there's some good ideas out there.
Thank you very much gentlemen, good night, and good luck.
The Magna Grapple I envision more-so as a dreadnought combat weapon (If you ever catch me saying "Blood Fist" please grant me the Emperor's Grace.. a lack of creativity in naming new wargear.. I understand.. but why the bloody hell did they have to rename a.. oh.. bloody.. hell.. It's infectious! (sorry. /tangent)) that is fired from a forearm cannon and reeled back in via chain and gear. It's corny, I know, but I envision it as more clockwork steam punk, than say a Mega Man'eque forearm cannon.
The Frag Cannon on the other hand (or in the case of a Dreadnought, the other arm) I have not considered yet. I am curious to see what other people have thought of, though, and equally curious to see what GW actually releases for it.
I've recently become a fan of this thing called Dubstep. And you should too.

Balls. Computer flaked on me. Guess I wanted to post four threads? You know, maximize the chances of responses? But for the Magna Grapple I might take the Hunter Killer missile from the Rhino sprue and modify that. It's a fun little missile-type weapon capable of being fit onto a Dread somewhere...
When I first heard about it I thought it was actually some sort of focused magnetic field generator in the Dreadnought's hand that "grappled" things without a cord and let him move it around Magneto- style. It sounded suitably futuristic. Then the description explicitly said it was just a harpoon with a cord, which was...disappointingly primitive. And also doesn't make any sense when you think about it.-How are people going to be making their Magna Grapples? I've thought a few things through, such as getting a missile launcher and putting a small three-pronged fishing hook in it to show it.
I still thought of it as being fired from the palm of the DCCW, not from the underarm mount where the meltagun/storm bolter would go. You could very easily model a pronged hook into the Dread's palm to represent this.An assault cannon would proxy it fine, but maybe you could grab a bunch of grenade launchers or missile launchers and cobble something out of that. I don't really plan to field them, so it hasn't bothered me.-The Frag Cannons! I haven't thought much on these yet, but I'm sure there's some good ideas out there.

Mr_Wayne: "Some people believe that the World Eaters do not field any ranged weaponry. Those people often die at a distance."

The Blood Talons in the codex picture are from BJORN.
I'm a reasonable guy. But, I've just experienced some very unreasonable things.
I'm just going to buy the forge world close combat dread arms, they have larger claws and with a little trimming to make them more refined... you get several blood talons for price of one bjorn/chaos model. And since all my dread arms are magnetized... well swaps are quick and easy. Also am I the only one that thinks the Forge world Chaplin dread will be perfect for DC dreads? Or just furioso's in general.
As to the Magna grapple, I'm probably going to go with a shoulder mounted 'missile launcher' that has a grapple in it, and probably a bit of chain attached. Basically taking a missile launcher, attaching the end of a shortened three prong fishing hook to the 'missile' ala drilling. A little green stuff an some crafting chain. It should work well. Just a matter of do I want to make a 'pulley' type system on the back for the chain or not.
