Ok, heyy again everybody,
I have basically put this thread together for anybody interested in the dark angels, I want to know the truth, so put your theories, ideas ect.. here.
Are they good, evil? What is the truth behind Lion el'Johnson? Is he dead, alive? ect..
Just put anything related to the dark angels history here.
(Also feel free to talk about all the Primarchs and where they are now, and if they are even alive)
Fallen? There's no such thing. I don't know where you heard that, but you know you can't trust obviously heretical sources.
Now why don't you head on down to room 42, Mr. Asmodai would like to hear more about these stories.
I think this could/should also be moved to fluff, but I feel like throwing down my two cents anyway. If it suddenly gets moved, I'll know where it went.
The Dark Angels: Good. Definitely good. Sure, they're kind of secretive due to the whole fallen angels thing, but they are still ultimately good. At worst, neutral good, because they periodically act like Eldar and start running off after their own goals ignoring others.
Lion el' Johnson: Into the warp right? (or somewhere hidden in the Tower) That's GW codespeak for "will be back for the final big battle at Terra." Him, Khan, Russ, Vulkan, and Corax are all going to stagger out of the warp just in time (Russ of course, being piss drunk, as usual), and just generally be awesome. Rowboat will heal in that stasis field of his, and probably single-handedly stop the tyranids (because GW loves him, regardless of his real abilities)
Fallen Angels: I don't think there's too much sinister about them. They're bad guys, that's all. The only interesting one is Cypher. Speaking of which...
Cypher: Some say he's bad, and some say he plays devil's advocate around the galaxy but is ultimately good. I think GW will handle him one of two ways.
1. He's good, and is pivotal for pulling the Imperium's arse out of the fire, but we don't find out about that until the last minute. Maybe that Lion sword everyone keeps talking about actually does something.
2. He gets ignored by GW, who forget he exists. They write some little ending for him when they realize they forgot about him.
I'd say he probably isn't Evil evil, simply because if he was, why would GW go through all the "well, maybe he's not so bad," and "he was actually a good thing for the Imperium at the Black Crusades," stuff. No other fallen angels ever got that kind of treatment, so he must be special. That or they're just screwing with us.
Well i don 't know the Horus Hersay books don't paint Russ or Lion El'Johnson in a good light, in fact they paint them pretty badly. Luther comes across as a good guy who has a moment of bad judgement. As for Cypher. That's a title in the Order. Read the books they are quite enlightning.
I'm going to have to throw out the required "no one is good in 40k", which is true in an objective sense. Subjectively, however, I still think the DA are less than noble. Rumours abound of how they will abandon the field of battle or even destroy other Imperial forces (and other SM no less!) to pursue their obsession with the fallen. They take penance to a whole new and unhealthy level, even in the context of the setting.
Dark Angels are dicks.
During the Heresy, the Lion held back to see which side would win. He threw his lot in with the Imperium when they fought of Chaos forces.
The Fallen are those Marines that stayed loyal to the Emperor and attacked the traitor elements as they returned to Caliban, even though they never had a chance of winning.
The Fallen escaped into the warp, many were lost, many were corrupted by the dark powers that drove them mad, but maybe a small few survived the ordeal and are still out there somewhere..

'Dark Angel Green' Dark Elves in need of fluff
we dont know if they really held back though this bit of information came from the angels of darkness book and was from a fallen dark angel himself.
As for holding back, they didn't really hold back the whole time, Jonson grabbed a bunch of seige tools to keep from Horus at first. Of course, he then turned them over to Perturabo to get his backing to be the new warmaster and Perturabo betrayed Jonson (like we couldn't have seen that coming). He kind of disappeared after that, and no one's really sure what happened for the next decade (he may have been fighting the Night Lords). Definitly possible he was holding back to see what happened though.
Russ was busy beating up Magus. At some point the Space Wolves and Dark Angels did meet up and then head towards Terra. That's the key reason why Horus decided to let the Emperor on his ship.
