    Popping Monoliths

    As the topic says, whats the best way of popping a monolith? With the living metal special rule and all (un augmented strength and one D6) but there is an errata which says that power fists/klaws will still double the strength of an assaulting unit. Does one D6 mean if I attack with ordnance I'll still be able to roll 2D6 and pick the highest BUT I dont get the 2D6 for meltas?

    Basically how do I deal with these mofos

    Ignore them and concentrate on killing enough warriors for phase-out.

    Dam beat me to it, lol.

    Keep shelling the hell out of their Necron units, and EVENTUALLY they will phase out... (if thay have taken res. orbs this may take some time).

    Officer: 'Fire your weapon trooper!'
    Guardsman: 'Yes sir!...But sir...They keep getting back up...Sir?'
    Officer: 'THEN keep firing trooper!'

    Put your faith in the shell and shot that the Emperor provides and all will go well

    This is correct. Demolisher or Medusa shells are your best bet. Massed lascannons can also do the trick. It's not hard to get a penetrate on a 'Lith by pointing two or three Vendettas at it.

    And yes, you still get to roll 2d6 and pick the highest. It specifically says so in the codex.

    ugggh..... liths......
    well everyone harped on this subject and i'll have to agree w/ them, shoot the b-jesus outta the foot sloggers and other cron units. Ive phased them out even when my ig was on its last legs one game. a hint perhaps for those assault mob players, plant a comissar in ur platoons and if u shoot what u got at the warriors, and the lith comes by to mince ur platoons, simply charge them and get ur extra attacks on them(IG atleast have higher int. then warriors) and hittem up close w/ power weapons.(it'll buy u time to use ur tanks on the lith and kill some more bots for the phasing)
    if u absolutly NEED to destroy liths, again, Demolishers and Medusas and vendettas, concentrate all ur str 9^ fire power on the lith that can w/out reprisals from any cron units nearby.

    something to help them not pop up if they deep strike is to have (like nids) an officer of the fleet around to help keep their active numbers down(ie, if they have 2+ liths and u want to deal w/ them 1 at a time)

    Recently playing a Necron player i found out that 3 Vendettas do the job nicely in not only popping monoliths but mowing down ranks of necron warriors
