I have recently been painting some IG just as a change of pace from my normal stuff. But it has gotten me thinking about actually playing Guard.
This being said I do like the idea of Ogryn. Big bruteish thugs to smack things hard apeals to me, but the idea of purchaseing individual blisters of metal ogryn does not. I don't especially like metal and i don't want to pay that much for just one squad, let alone two.
So my question is, what would be a good substitute/conversion for Ogryn? I've thought about using Ogre Kingdoms models possibly with Ork Nob arms for the guns (but I haven't compared the sizes to see if it would look ok)
In the Castle of Pain on a Mountain of Skulls I sat on a Throne of Blood. What was will be, what is will be no more. Now is the season of Evil!

A while ago someon posted pics of some of these guys up on here. (I forget who brought them up initially).
Incursion Store — Grunt Ape I
I've thought about using these guys as Ogryns, they even have the 40mm bases. The main reason i havent bought myself a few is that i'm unsure how big they will be in comparisson to normal IG infantry. I dont want my normal IG to be waist high to humans in battlesuits like that, but they could easily count as either Grey Knight Terminators or Ogryns.
They have the machine gun to represent a rippergun or stormbolter
Their armour could represent the toughness of Ogryns or the terminator armour of GKTs
Their combat werapons could represent the power of the Orgyns or the nemisis force weapons.
But if you just want guys to go hit stuff I suggest buying a pack or two of ogre kindoms leadbelchers.

What are the giant holes in their torsos for?
they come with the holes, their ment to have a belt buckle go there but I don't like the look of them so I'm filling it
The models come with those holes... they have some sort of circular armoured plate on them as ogres.
gamesworkshop did a tutorial a while ago on converting ogre kingdoms into ogryns. One thing they paid special attention to was giving the ogryns modern looking boots instead of the pointy ones they have now. Can't find the link but it may be worth looking at.
Most Notable Achievements:
Killed a Revenant Titan in one shot.
