Well, the simplest answer would be to start with the basics. Get some basic infantry and a Wolf Lord, and see if Space Wolves has a play style that suits you.

I'm afraid I don't have enough knowledge of Space Wolves to give any specific information. (I play Dark Angels, thank you very much. ). Although, I've heard that Thunderwolves can be pretty sick-nasty.

Well, I am going to see what I can make for you. I am using American Dollars, so I will see what I can do with $300.

Here's what I came up with:

    3 Space Wolves Packs
    2 Rune Priests
    3 Rhinos
    1 Devastator squad
    1 Vindicator

With this you can get 3 squads of Grey Hunters/Blood Claws with accompanying Wolf Guard, 2 rune priests (awesome), dedicated transport for your troops, a long fangs group, and a deadly tank. If you'd like a drop pod rather than rhinos (up to you), take out two of the Space Wolves packs and substitute it with a Space Wolf Box set.

That should get you a good start. With my way of customizing, that would give you about 1,200 points of hard hitting death.
Applaud, my friend, the Comedy is finished.

Hive Fleet Charybdis (1-0-0) and Grey Brothers Space Wolf Chapter (3-1-2) [W-L-T]

Or do the smart thing and dont go marines at all since there are so many space marine players out there lol. In all seriousness however id get the codex first and foremost and just read through it and find what you like, then buy based on what you would like to run. Good luck mate.
Real players go Guard....Real Men go Airborne!

Buy the codex, proxy with your GK, and see if you like it.

Best advice by far. Do LOTS of proxy play. Personally, I'm working on thunderwolves, because nothing says "Space Wolves" to me like marines riding giant wolves into battle. Above all, try before you buy! If you don't have enough models, borrow some.
