Since the release of the new Space Wolves book, I've decided to come back to 40k. I played space wolves for about 2 years back in the day, and now I'm excited to pick them back up.
Basically, I don't know where to start. I have the army book, and a bunch of models, but since a few huge changes to space wolves, I don't know what a good list looks like anymore. So basically, this is what i have,
20 Grey Hunters
20 Blood Claws
4 Wolf Guard Terminators
4 Wolf guard leaders
and 1 Predator
So where do I build from here? I'm thinking about picking up jump pack wolves now since their point cost has been drastically reduced, making them much more viable. Also, does anybody have an idea if using these will give me a decent army list? Thanks!
Grey Hunters and Long Fangs are pretty much the bread and butter of modern wolf lists. Look into getting some of those, and some more transport options too.
If you want to Flying Wolves, that's awesome, though I know very little about that technique. My suggestion would be for you to pick up (or mod) two Rune Priests and pick up another Rhino or two. I honestly cannot suggest much about the jump packs, though. Good luck, mate.
Applaud, my friend, the Comedy is finished.
Hive Fleet Charybdis (1-0-0) and Grey Brothers Space Wolf Chapter (3-1-2) [W-L-T]
I would say pick up a drop pod or 3. Dreadnoughts are best used when you throw them across the table turn 1 and have a 10 man grey hunters with a pair of meltas come down is great and dosent cost much point wise. Next I would say pick up one of the new space would pack box. The models in there are awsome and the parts are great for when you want your wolf guard to lead a squad in something besides terminator armour. Thats realy all i can think of right now, personaly im still waiting on a nice looking fast attack wolf squad and a better looking thunderwolf.
I'm not a fan of the Skyclaws, they need a leash, and the best way to do that is to throw a Wolf Priest with them since WG cant lead them. but that makes the unit nearly 300 points i think (codex in my car). I dont get good results with them mostly because theres many MEQ in my area and they dont grind very well.
